 So i've got two sets of springs in primer right now... I planned on using the rear springs that where on the 4runner because I thought they were stock but i'm pretty sure they're an aftermarket spring. Much thicker than a stock rear. I'll post pictures tomorrow... I started tearing down the rear axle as well, getting it prep'd and painted.

Cleaned up and primed all the front end parts for the post part today.

I'm trying to locate some replacement parts for the springs like the clamps that hold the ends of the springs in place. I had to cut the one's that were on there off because they were all rusted up and would have been way to short for a 6 leaf pack. Center pin i'll just use a grade 8 bolt.....  also there's the clip in plastic pads at the end of each spring.. i'd like to replace those as well if anyone know's where I can find 'em that would be great.


I'll try and get a few pictures up tomorrow of the progress.

For the centering pin, make sure to get a "socket Head" bolt. As for as the Teflon pads at the end of each spring, Trail gear is the only source I know of. Might as well replace the bushings while your at it.

yea I plan on replacing the bushing as well, do you know where I can get the clamps?

it's a pinned clamp that's on the third leaf that wraps around the upper two leafs. I need one that'll fit atleast a 6 leaf pack.

I have to drill the old one out.....

i'll call trail gear or maybe alcan tomorrow and see if they can help me.

I have a 5 day weekend starting tomorow to look forward too, hopeing to get the front end back under the truck and finished. I'm going to start assembling the axle tomorrow.

Fo-runna, yea I think i'm just gonna get Marlin's low pro plugs.. i've never really had an issue w/ that like alot of other people *knock on wood*
I don't want to put ALOT of time and effort into these axles because I have plan's on going diamonds eventually. One of the reason's i'm not shaving 'em either.

Today's objective :
1. Finish rebuilding axle
2. Go to PnP to get some stock rears and 63" chevys
3. Remove shock towers, stock spring hanger and springs from the front.

Not sure how that happened, but that sucks! You might be able to find somebody that has one, other than that, kit. Maybe dealer?

Axles complete ready to go and my garage got a much needed clean up. Suck's that tomorrow's Saturday.. I wanted to hit pick n pull for some springs...

Tomorrow we've got ppl coming over for a BBQ so I don't think i'll get much done. I'll probably clean/paint the lock outs on the hubs and maybe start cutting the shock towers off the front along with pulling the front springs

I've got a bunch of that stuff. Unfortunately I'm still in my sleeping bag at the bottom of winch hill 1 right now. I'm not sure if I'm coming out today or tomorrow yet. I'll let you know and get the parts to you ASAP.

Kinda stuck right now because I need to get another set of stock rears and 63's, nothings open for the next two days..... so I don't have alot to do..

yea hit me up, I work today and tomrorow but i'll be home Thursday,Friday and Saturday... suppose to go pick up a winch on Saturday.

picked up another stock set of rears today, couldn't find any 4 leaf 63's. i'll have them tore down and primed by tomorrow. maybe go swing by scrap and steel to pick up some 3/4" flat bar and some counter sunk screws/bolts from fastenal to start assembling everything.

I still gotta pull off the driver side shock mount and cut the stock spring hanger off.

Ordering new rim's this week, was hoping to score some used 15x8's but i'm not having any luck so i'll probably just order 'em off 4wheelparts.

Also was going to be heading to Sacramento to pick up a winch but that fell through, hope to pick it up the following weekend.

   f*$king 4wheelparts calls my wife today. She doesn't answer because she's home sick... they immediatly call back again so she answers and they ask if i'm there. She tell's them "no" so they hang up. Immediatly call back again, by then she's pissed and tell's them AGAIN "I already told you he's not here quit calling!"  .. dude on the phone apologizes and tell's her to have me call them because they apparently don't stock the wheels that I ordered and they have to make them?!  (WTF?!)   they told her it will take 4 to 6 weeks.... I called as soon as I got home and left a message with the dude... we'll see what he has to say hopefully tomorrow.

If they can't get them here any sooner i'll probably order the wheel's from someone else.

I've been trying to make it over to the local scrap n steel to get everything I need to finish my springs but work blows right now.. I can't get even a second to do anything.

I know if you try to order 2.5" bs wheels from schwab or america tire company they say that they are custom wheels that have to be made and take 4-6 weeks

yea... kinda lame they don't have a set or two premade. not enough people purchase them i suppose?

oh well, meeting up w/ bigarm's on Thursday to pick up a spare. also getting a hi-lift from Blingn hopefully sometime this week...

tomorrow's another day, hope to get some material to finish these damn springs.

I bet they're pretty expensive...

So although I didn't get much work done on the rig today it was still pretty productive. Cruised over to Yuba to pick up the steel I needed to finish the front springs, got all my grade 8 bolts for the front springs. Shot up to Grass Valley and meet up with bigarms to pick up a soare 37" MTR. On my way home I stopped by O'Reilly to get new hardware for my calipers. Heard from kdub that a local "pick n pull" had some 63's so I swung by and picked up a set.

Wanted to setup my RUF tomorrow and continue cutting off stuff I didn't need but the wife wants to go fishing because it's suppose to be around 80* tomorrow... and Saturday i'm BBQ'n for my work..... so we'll see how it goes.

Getting real anxious to start slapping on all these new parts and getting the 4runner rolling again.

Let see if this works.... not much work on the rig yesterday. Went up to Little Grass Valley and caught some rainbow trout.
