Shambs Official 1-ton Build
« on: Apr 02, 2006, 05:44:36 PM »
I finally started my official build up thread for my rig since its changing. Here's what i've done so far.

Day 1

Pulled the axles, springs, shackles, steering, brake lines and drivelines out of the way.

Note to Self: No garage + rain = sucks

Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear 5.13's probably put Detroits in both ends and im debating whether to go full hydro or just hydro assist with my toyota ifs box. Linked front and rear sitting on 16" Fox air shocks.
42" TSLS and Trailready beadlocks.

Probably pull the fenders off, along with the bed. Relocate the front axle forward just a bit to give a longer wheelbase.

Should be fun, can't wait to see the end result. I'll post pics weekly as I progress.

Shamb, Chris moved his axle forward about 6 inches i would guess and he hit his fender/firewall with his 40's.  Linking it would help with this because it should accually move the axle forward when it compresses.  A little info for future reference.

Im relocating the axle forward strictly for wheelbase, the axle won't hit the firewall because it'll be linked. Axle's only gonna move up and down.. wont have the spring/shackle to force the tire up and back.

6"  wow thats alot dude, lol

UPDATE:

Pulled all the interior, marked the interior roll cage. Pulled off the F-150 shock towers and bought a set of axle today!!!

So tomorrow i'll be getting in contact with a friend of mine to get some idea's on the links. Hopefully start those this week..

D60 front / 14 bolt rear  off a Chevy, bone stock.. I'll be getting them mounted first before I start installing gears and lockers.

within this next month I think it'll be pretty much complete. The links will probably take around 2 weeks after that its just doing the steering, lockers, gears and drivelines... oh and i'll weld my incabe cage in which won't take that long.. I ripped all the carpet out, I think I like it better that way.. spent probably 3-4 hours grinding that rubber crap that held the carpet in out of there.. gonna probaly just rhino line the interior and call it good.

Yea whats the deal with that? I've been hearing that you can spin a bead off real easy on 16.5's for some reason. Whats the diff?

Someone also told me I'll need to run a double beadlock in order to keep the bead on at low pressure

???

they're 13.5" wide.  WOW yesterday was crazy.. took 5-6 hours to get my truck on the trailer.. you dont want to know what we had to do to get it on there either without damaging anything!

So today starts the links, took the day off so i'll post up some pics later.

not much of a "motivational" pic but it took all of Monday just to move all the parts to the shop so the progress could start. I'll have better progression pics by next Sunday  :crossed:
