pulled the driverside apart today, haven't finished cleaning everything up, gotta try and locate a 54mm socket for the spindle nuts... otherwise i'll just use the ol' screwdriver trick..

Gotta love tearing into the front end lol. That was prolly some of the better work I did on the 85 and the 87.

on a side note, the PO told me there was a lockrite in the front      wrong... it's open.... just another thing i'll have to purchase... gave the ring and pinion a quick once over and they look good.

probably do a little clean up each night after work then start putting it all back together on Thursday.... i may just do the entire front suspension as well while i've got the front axle off....

steerings already off minus the steering box, we'll see.. not sure yet...

i should be working on the front end tomorrow and definently Friday. i gotta relocate some electrical wiring in my house tomorrow but i'll be cleaning the front end also.

got the axle out and cleaned... started welding up my creeper gusset kit but I need to get some scrap metal to dial in the welder.

Letting it cool down before I put the shock mounts on...hoping to have everything welded and cleaned/painted by today... depending on how long that takes me I may start putting the axle back together.

A few more, everythings welded up now... sanding/painting the knuckles right now... waiting for the PAINT TO DRY!









I gotta go get a seal puller as well to get these damn seals out of the axle housing......

 No one in this town has a seal puller   

Just drove to every auto parts store in town, the first place tried selling me a slide hammer for $100   

Patiently awaiting Harbor Freight to get my part here so I can finish....

I'll probably have all the parts cleaned and ready to be put on by today, may even paint the axle housing... that way when the puller get's here I can pull the old seals, put in the new and be ready to go.

I still need to assemble the RUF as well

Axle seals? Hammer and chisel/ screwdriver didn't work?

I used channel locks, a flathead and patience.

here's where I ended today, hit the axle housing with a coat of primer and painted the knuckles and rotors on both sides. tomorrow i should be able to finish the RUF and probably paint the hubs.

yea i tried hammer/flathead/chisel.... with no luck, can't get 'em to budge.

 yea, i ordered one from harbor freight but it wont be here for 3-7 days.

I'm kinda ghetto but I pull mine with a custom end on a slidehammer. Works without fail everytime and it won't cost you a dime. If it'll get you up and running quicker you're welcome to it.

I'm sure you'll see it sooner, I gotta get some of these spare parts sold so i've got some $ for the 63's, rim's and drivelines.

I'll be starting on the springs and giving the axle housing a coat of gloss black here in a few.
