The bends for the down pipe are welded and all, but the three triangles and done on the manifold.

I even put turning vanes in the manifold to help direct the exhaust toward the turbo.

Shouldn't have to machine it any because of the thick flanges, but I expect to have to stress relieve it with a torch once it is all done.

I love this rig.  I expect to see it in my driveway with a ribbon on it this xmas.  Even without any extra boost, I think it would have given my VW a run for its money.  Many of us in TOJC look forward to seeing the changes Mark has made on the Mammoth each time he shows up.

sorry if you have already answered this mark-but what turbo are you using?? will it be ready for mcr5?? and do you plan to intercool it?? i did a similar set up using wrecking yard parts to produce 15 psi@ 2300 rpm...it was saweet. 300 hp ford focus :screwy: but it payed the bills.

i used a eclipse gsx turbo, and a volvo wagon intercooler
good luck buddy

It is a 300ZX turbo from about an 87-89. If I get 15 psi I would be happy, but 20 psi would be better. I am going to see what it does without a cooler first before I go through all the trouble to install one.

Hi Weedeater! Good to see you here! I know we haven't been there much, not much going on over the summer months, I guess.
I can't wait to see what it does either.
And, yeah, Crawlerdan, we'll have it ready for MCR5 :bud: You better believe it!!

OK, the manifold is DONE I installed it and it had a 1/8" gap between the head and end flanges. I took the rose bud and heated it up and pulled it down with the bolts and tapped on it to relive the stress.

After it cools I can remove it and install it with the gasket.

I can't wait, I got the manifolds and turbo on and finished the exhaust. Put the PS pump back on.

I hope I can spend some time on it this week after work, If so we may be able to test it out before this weekend.  :woohoo:

thanks, I just wish I had some of the patients that MW seem to have.  I just get frustrated when I'm trying to build something custom sometimes and seem to give up most of the time.  I don't think that failure is in Mr. W's vocabulary.

Patience!!?? Oh yeah, he's mr. patience alright! :shake: :aaa:
But you are right about that failure comment. If it can be built, he's going to try to build it. If it's already built he's going to try to figure out how to make it better. He's something else alright, :headscratch: don't know quite what, but he is something! :smooch:
