Screw the turbos, them electric super chargers is where its at.

I hope you do your research before jumping into one of these.

Tell the nice people how much boost they advertise.

Positive pressure is where it is at and if it can't, it is just a fan.

Now if you want to take my old Paxton, put a 5 to 10 hp DC motor on it and a 200 amp alt with extra battries to get it turning, you could have a real electric supercharger that weighs well over 200 lbs.

Or you could add a 15 lb turbo and kick some ass.

Sorry, just setting the record straight.  :slap:

Well I put a new 160* thermostat in cause it was running 190*-200* with the 180* tstat. Now it runs 160* some of the time, but will still go up to 190*-200* when driving.

I pulled the fan off and bought to 12" electric fans and am making a shroud plate to mount them to.  :crossed:

We will soon see if that helps. I think cause the grill is smaller than the radiator it doesn't force enough air through the radiator and because the fan hangs down below the radiator by 6" it don't pull enough when sitting still.

I have been having problems keeping this thing cool and thought it might help to get rid of the clutch fan. I made a fan shroud to accept 2 12" electric fans.

After all this it still is running hot at high speed.

Looks like I will be trying to make a new radiator, but as big as I can get wedged in there.

that radiator should be big enough,   what shape is the water pump in ??  is there a higher volume pump??

is the front of the radiator  getting full airflow??   is the grill opening big enough??

I put a temp probe on the inlet and outlet of the radiator and ran the engine up to about 3000. I held it there for a good minute or two and the temp kept rising. There was a temp difference of 20* at idle with the engine temp at 160*, but at high temp the TD went down to 3*-5* at high rpm.

There is two possible things going on here, either the water is flowing Through the radiator so fast it cant dissipate the heat, or the radiator just isn't big enough.

That's what I'm sayin.

To bad I can't find a core the size I want. That's why this one is short and wide.

Still has more aera than the one that goes with the engine.

I don't think there is a shortage of air by the looks of this pic.

First thing I thought of was flow and going to fast through the radiator to cool it.

First thing I thought of was flow and going to fast through the radiator to cool it.

I was wanting to put a see through tube in the upper hose so I can see how fast the water is flowing.

I could also put a ball valve in there to throttle it a bit to see if it makes a differance.

:dunno:

If I can get more aera the water will slow down some too.

Larger is better, not only will it have more time exposed but it may slow the flow enough since the pump will be pushing more coolant volume.

The radiator that goes with this engine is a top tank and is wider than this one is tall. That by it's self could be part of the problem.

Not enough runs so the water has to flow faster.

Kinda hard to squeeze a long radiator in a narrow area though.

Wider is not the problem now, I need taller.

The core measures 14"H x 24"W x 2 1/4" thick with a 2 row all aluminum. This core fits a 3.0 v6 Taurus.

I think I am going to install a ball valve and slow the water flow down and check the temparture difference of the air flowing across the radiator to see if it increases or decreases as it is slowed down.

I may just need a restrictor I am sure they have the same problems with race cars turning extremely high engine speeds.

Maybe even an electric water pump?

Oh, my mistake, when you were saying the runners were not long enough I was thinking across not up and down, but I now have a thought, would it be to hard to have the pump push from the bottom instead of from the top? If you can route the pump to push from the bottom  that would definatly slow the flow.
