 The Ghost-Rider/Ghost Runner
Year                   1985
Make            Toyota
Model            4Runner
Color            White/Brown
Packages    SR5

History, this one was bought off the showroom floor in 1985 by one of my best friends, it has slowly evolved by his hands and my advice in to a very  capable little sleeper rig. Has more upgrades than I can remember but I will slowly add more information as I remember what we have done to it. Sadly my buddy passed away in 2016 but in a very generous act his wife and son gifted me the truck since I spent the last 6 years getting him out and about as much as humanly possible. So goes the nickname of Ghost-Rider/Ghost Runner since he will always be there with me when I take out his truck... funny I still call it his truck!

I'm sorry for your loss of such a close friend. It was great that you can keep his rig going for him and take his memories wheeling with you.

Thanks, I've been in total shock since she and her son did this. Rest assured though I will do what this truck was intended to do and my ghost rider will always be there in spirit. Sucks that the reason that he received the Medal of Valor is what slowly took his life. Saved five lives before the buildings fire escape collapsed with him and the last person he saved on it.

Oh just thought of another upgrade: V-6 vented rotors, calipers and I think he just put a Land Cruiser master cyl on it too.

Sorry to hear about your loss, that's one beautiful rig. If you don't mind me asking could you give us some pictures on how the snorkel was setup?

It's been a while but I recently upgraded a few things, new tires and new longer front shocks, this allowed for the removal of my limiter straps on the front which gave me the full travel available. I just lifted a tire with a forklift to see how much better it is and had to stop to avoid hitting a truck on the side of it. Plus I became a little concerned that it may slip since I started sitting on the side-wall of the tires. Even with that I had lifted each tire 4 feet off the ground and still had full contact on the 3 remaining tires.

That is a really nice 4Runner.

As much as I loved my 1986 Longbed, Automatic, if I could go back in time, I would have bought an '85 4Runner.

I think the 1985 4Runner is the ultimate Toyota classic.

If Toyota made one today, I'd buy it in heartbeat!  :gap:
