In the begining where it all started. http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=43965.0

And so it begins!

For the time being we are calling this latest project just The Wagon, but Mark has joked that we should paint it brown with yellow insets and call it Number Two. LOL :pokinit:

Mark started cleaning the engine last weekend and finished it and the transmission up yesterday.

He got it painted and preliminarily fit in The Wagon, he's got some work to do still to get it to fit in there properly.

He's been having a hell of a time trying to find a starter for it. He spoke to one guy in MN who said he probably does have one but couldn't get out to the yard to find it cause they were snowed in! :yikes:

That's NOT the idea for this rig :slap: It's not going to be a trail rig, it's going to be a touring wagon for road trips. It will have offroad capabilities but not exteme wheeling, that's what the Mammoth is for.
It's going to be build for comfort and being able to camp in. We'll be able to use it for local overnight runs when we don't want to have to take the LBC out, or to camp in areas where we wouldn't take the LBC.

:shake:  not everything has to be about the challenge.
There's a time and a vehicle for wheeling and a time for sight seeing and cruising.
I can see it now, starting at the beginning of Route 66, following it and camping along the whole route. That has always been on our to-do list, but the logistics didn't work for the Mammoth.

...and you've been married to Mark for how long? I said the same thing about the Durango, but you have to make sure it will do what you want it to do so you have to test it in the extreme.

Did you have something else to play with at the time?
If we are going out to play it will be with the Mammoth, its not like we're getting rid of that. There is no reason to abuse the wagon, it's not going to be built for abuse.

I just took the Durango to Big Bear last week to check out the fire damage at the campground we stayed at when we took you up there and beat the snot out of it cutting across to John Bull. Is that enough for you?

welll its not like we have anything local here to just cruise on out to. The places we play at are specific 4x4 areas, in that case we would bring the Mammoth either towed by the LBC or the Wagon.
Going to Big Bear to you is like us going to Ocala Nat. Forest and we've done ONF in the Pathfinder. There is nothing extreme that we are just going to happen upon in FL.
So if we are going somewhere where there is extreme wheeling to be had we will have the Mammoth with us.
