that bolt pattern looks very similar to a powerstroke starter...I'm going to dig a little bit around here for you.

do you have a correct PN?

The International pn is 478049C92 I was given that by a IH dealer and was told they could not get it.

I found a place that has a rebuilt one for $395 plus a $100 core charge plus shipping.

I can buy a new 24V model for $259 and free shipping.

Looks like that is the way to go.

is the 24v model a industrial lift application?
if so, i think you can mess with the innards and make it 12v

Yes it is a forklift starter and I would rather keep it 24v and isolate it from the rest of the eletrial system. My ready welder needs 24v too so having this setup will make it easier to use.

Duffil, go ahead ad look around if you like, I am not ready yet, but will be after I am done with the axles.

Thanks

i think he is thinking about a trailer with more articulation. one that he can pull behind #2 over the rock garden!

it was funny yesterday when he was crawling in his backyard with the mammoth over the power transformer   box :_oops: and the trailer! i think mwm has pix

Lady Di

I have some pics, I don't think I got him when he was on the trailer. I thought he was going to roll off on the fender :ack:

Well I did some hunting and it looks like there is not another starter to replace that one.  I was thinking maybe a powerstroke or a cummins might do it, but it appears to be it's own animal.  18059 Lester number...If the ebay one is new, than it's a pretty good price...my local rebuilder (read: uncle in law)  would pay $175 thru WAI for a new unit, and that should be pretty standard cost on one, so yeah $249 isn't bad.

Or you could sand-cast one. :gap:

Hi,

Yes I used 1HD-T Toyota in-line 6 Diesel with Automatic transmission, full time 4X4 and electronic locking 3rd Diff.
Flipped the drive side from Left to Right, used the original casing of the speedo retro fitted with gauges from Toyota Surf.

Waiting to see some more pictures of your Truck. BTW a friend in another City of Pakistan has rebuilt a truck like yours with a Toyota Prado 1994 engine and drive train and Toyota axles, will ask him for pictures.

All the best.

Gibli, that is some realy nice work. You want to do mine? I'm burnt out and can't seem to get motivated to work on it. It's just too hot and I am super busy this time of the year.

I can't wait for it to cool off again.
