OK, you didn't really expect me to be completely done this weekend did ya?

I got it installed and hooked up. Hung a 14" fan behind the radiator and ran tested it.

It idled at 160* forever and when I ran it up to about 2000 rpm for about 3 minutes it climbed to 170*.

Shut it down and hung a 12 " fan in front of the radiator on the opposite corner and tried it again.

This time it stayed at 160* at 2000 rpm and did not climb until I ran it up to 3000 rpm, then it climbed to 190* in about 2 minutes.

I still need to make a shroud to mount the fans on and maybe get differant sized fans to maximize the air flow.

ya but dose it leak ?

:crossed:

Actually it does, between the top hose and the bottom hose, but with hoses on it it only leaks into the engine.  ::)

Now I just went out and looked and saw there isn't going to be enough room to use 4 10" fans with a shroud or even two 10".

But if I just strap the fans to the radiator there may be room for 4 10" ers.

Or I could make a shroud to put the clutch fan back on.  :headscratch:

That thing was making all kinds of noise and stealing HP, but may prove to be more reliable.  :dunno:

I don't think a single 14" fan will be enough even with a shroud.

Do the make a 20"?

I would hate to see that big ass fan so close to the radiator and have it deflect and take out the core.  :smack:

The problem is I only have 3" from the radiator to the water pump. the 14" I have is 3 5/8".

I would put the fan in front except that I want to use that space for an intercooler.

I for one am not a fan of big asses :yikes:

I am not sure I am even big on flex fans either.  I can see them bending forward when under water and taking out the radiator.  :_oops:

I am looking at using 4 10" electric fans attached to the radiator without a shroud. This should give me the most flow I can get without a shroud.

Otherwise I will make a shroud and use the stock clutch fan.  :headscratch:

I was thinking about a float switch so when the water got deep enough it would turn off the fans.

I think before I buy 4 $80 fans that may need to be modifed to fit, I am going to try the stock fan.

I will pick up some more aluminum this week and make a shroud. This may prove to work fine and save me some cash.

The main work is done.
Finished the fitting and ran a bead of Ultra Grey down the middle to seal the divider.
Put the tank on and welded it up.
.

I was wondering why you did it this way? Why not weld the first tank to the core, and then weld the angle onto it, instead of assembling the tanks, and then needing silly-cone to seal it off?

The core is oven soldered and would not stand the heat needed to weld that close to the core. Also the core is super thin and there is no way to weld an edge like that down below the tubes.

I was going to use regular silicone, but thought the Ultra Grey would hold up better with the antifreeze. I don't want it to loosen up and cause it to start bypassing.

This only keeps the coolant from leaking inside the tank, not from leaking outside. If it leaks here it will bypass the core and not do any cooling at all.
