Peterbuilt84

I should be fine then  :hahaha:

Built a new rear bumper today :)

jrock

It turned out just like I drew it but its not exactly what I visualized.

Rear piece is 1.5x3x0.188"
Corners and sides are 1.5x3x0.120"
Tying to the frame is 2.5" angle iron 0.188"

Bumper came out nice. Very clean and simple. Good work.

Tacoma rear sound kinda cool, I wonder how they'll flex?

well, when i had them attached before, they drooped like 14" haha! no idea on compression though, cause i didnt relocate any of the leaf spring mounts, so when i put my truck back down (had the back end lifted 7' off the ground with my tractor) the shackles layed flat across the frame before the suspension even started to squat haha!

looks good nice amount of flex

wow dude! thats a lot of flex! thats like, twice as much as i can get with my truck... finally got the tacoma springs in :) i pulled the overload and added a 2nd leaf from a 87 4runner pack in the mix. she flexes pretty decent, but not like that... i didnt have the bed on though, that might have something to do with it... i only got about 20" off the ground before the other rear tire lifted off... my front will flex up to almost 3ft though haha!

I'm a little disappointed in the rears flex :( Those are 10" shocks and I cant max them out. It's probably because the rear springs don't have as much arch to them anymore. I'm swapping in a good pair, with newer buxshings, when I find the right deal.

The pics of the shackles are to show how much binding I get in the hangers and shackles.

did you read anymore posts in the f150 thread you posted in a few days ago. i made a long post with some ideas. you should check it out i would like to see what you think since you run the f150's short side forward are well.

also i max out my 10's it looks like you have yours pointed really far in, which actually uses less shock travel than a shock mounted straight up. im sure you already knew that but i thought i would add it just in case. fwiw i mounted mine more vertical.

Jrock it isnt your springs thats limiting your flex in the rear.  Its better to have a flatter spring so when it does drop out it will have more arch to give.
The bed bob looks good bud.   Tho it does look like u ran into the same issue as I did.  Having a hard time controlling the heat and the metal near the welds started to warp a little.  Tho yours looks MUCH better then mine.
I would leave your rear springs alone and poss. get a set of bilsteins.  They will add more down force to help the springs drop out.   Ive also noticed mine would do this but once I installed this rear rock assault axle, the added extra weight really helps it drop out.

Heck its good to see your truck is in good shape after the hammers.  I still need to ck out your pics.

I did read all of it but I'll look into more of it. Those 10" have probably 2" showing at full stuff and I still don't max them out on droop. I might get them a bit more vertical, but then I'll need more droop out of them and a 12" wont fit then :(

I'm leaning towards the springs limiting flex. Right now I feel it's the binding inside the mounts that is getting me but with aftermarket springs I should get more droop.

The waves in the welds is actually from me hammering to get everything to line up :gap: Like I recommended, start with a straight bed :) I didn't notice any distortion with the welding :dunno:

I had bad luck at KOH. Every real trail we attempted when I was also driving, we hit traffic. It was the one time I decided to RIDE so I could take pictures that we were able to finish two trails  It was for the better anyway. I did have to drive it 750 miles home  :_oops: :gap:

if i remember right you used a marlin front hanger? also what bushings did you use in the front? i used sky brakets that are 3inch wide how these springs came factory. also have you seen how much travel your springs have when your tires are on and both sides are fully drooped? im curious if mine just droop more. should in theory as we have the same springs. here's a picture of my setup though. 5inch up travel 7 down for ride height, 24inch frame with my 35's.

also for anyone looking at this i know about the zipties, they are hose clamps now.

The hangers are marlin's, 3" wide. With both tires at full droop the shocks max out just before my dual shackles go straight. The front bushings are very worn out ford stocks. The rears are hard poly  that came with them.

Newest project....

Who knew sheet metal and bodywork were difficult  :screwy:  :headscratch:

Oh yeah, replaced my front 6 leaf RUFs for some 4" MC springs. Ride is nice and no more hitting bump stops everywhere. Problem is, now I have a real lift  :shake_head: 4" springs, 5" shackles, 1" drop hanger, 1" body lift... crap! I'm sitting on like 6" lift now!  :( But I can run the whoops now... kind of  :crossed:

Tallchevy

:haha: I remember when you told me I want to stay with almost no lift and that my 4Runner was way too high! Now your almost as high as mine!  :haha:
