Jarome just get the stops that go on the shock itself.  They work awesome.  Heck I have a set brand new here.
Plan on putting them on the 5125s I have when i get the shocks setup.

jrock

I should put a set of those on the rear. Do you screw off the eyelet to put those on? Can you take off the shock's eyelet?

crazykooter

You have to slide then on and once they are on the only way to get them off is to cut them off or cut the shaft of the shock.

Ideas my fanny, you should take out 10-12inches. My f150 springs aren't as long as your Chevy's so I get to get away with more bed loss :)

This tack welding stuff is a PITA.

superyota

i really don't think i can take that much out.  i'm thinking 6-9 inches tops.  i'm starting to think maybe i'll cut a bunch out and mount my shackle on the back bumper.  not sure yet.  wish i had a bit more time.

haha, thats kinda what I did on mine. I cut out the dented section :) Hopfeully now I can stop loosing tail lights :)

I personally don't like the look of the shackles hanging out behind the bumper, I only did it accidentally.

superyota

if i was to leave my shackels where they are, i think i would be pushing it to cut 6 inches out.  thats my biggest dilema right now.  is it even worth it?  will 6 inches make enough difference to stop my from catching the back end and breaking out tail lights?

And if you can notice, my skid plate hangs down lower now. I whaled on it for 15mins with a BFH to straighten it out. Worked good too. Its now the proper shape  :disturbed:

i still want to be able to drive it down the road and not get hasseled by 5.0.

How much do you think you would need to take out to be flush with the rear of the frame? Any idea?

Bob is looking good, keep up the progress  :gap:

jrock

A few weeks ago I installed a pair of 4xInovation solid motor mounts and a solid t-case mount on the rear case. They work great. No movement at all in my shifters and no more slop in the driveline.

BUT, now I have terrible vibe and rattling in the cab :(

White duct tape :) I'll make a racing stripe until I can get to Mike's paint booth :)

Thanks!  :beerchug: I was looking at taking around 10" out, but haven't been able to measure.

Where there any problems you ran into with the bob? Anything you'd do different? Looking at bobbing my bed soon so I'm looking for pointers. Yours looks like it came out good btw.

superyota

how did you cut the inner bed panals?  did you measure them afterwards or cut the bed and panals all in 1 shot with a long blade?

i got dave'z solid mm and two stock t-cases mounts. Got tired or the vibes put the stock mm back in and ripped a stock one snow wheelin two days later.. Solid mm's it is..

I'm waiting to see if the vibs reduce over time. I talked with the 4xInovation guys at KOH. They said they should soften over time and reduce vibs. The bushings are much larger than Dave's Offroad. We'll see what happens.

I had a loose bolt through my stock mounts to prevent separation.

Things I did wrong, I ground too much off when trying to level the welds  :hammerhead:  and I should have measured more to notice my shackles would be behind my tailgate with a 14" bob.

Tips?  Start with a clean straight bed!  Cut straight. Start with the top of the bed and work your way down when reassembling. I made sure the top of the bed was perfectly flat and straight. Then I welded the top of each side, then straightened and tacked my way down. I didn't even bother with the bed floor until I had finished the sides  :dunno:

I cut most everything with a cutoff wheel and finished with the sawzaw using the cuts as guides. I cut the back off first.

Peterbuilt84

Thanks for the tips! I made some half doors a while back so I learned from those a few things about welding sheet metal. A bed bob seems a little more difficult though.
