So I'm going to paint it blue again. Navy blue. I like the dark.

So I'm trying to diagnose a problem I feel my truck has. It doesn't flex as well as I think it should. Shocks where disconnected.

Back tire just touching ground.

Tallchevy

Rear springs are too short, drop down rear shackle?

What springs are you running? Im too lazy to read the thread.

Mine flexed like :pokinit: in the begining but after 3 years they are way flexier now.

RUF: Main, military wrap, #3, main cut, military cut, wrap cut. Cut down at 3" intervals. Rears are F150 2.5"wide 4 leaf packs with #4 removed, still has overload. 10" ranchos in the back, never limits. Front has Rough County on stock mounts, ~10", I don't get enough droop to top out these. Rear has double shackles that barely leave the frame.

I think the F150s are binding in the hangers and the top 3 leafs of the RUFs are not arched enough :dunno:

you forgot to mention the front shackels sit up against the body mounts when it starts to flex.  thats what i think it is.

I fixed that last night. I'll try and flex it again but I still think there is not enough droop in the front.

i think your right about the f 150's. if i remember you used marlin hangers which are 2.75 wide but from the factory the hangers are 3inch. im going to be doing my ruf f150's hysteer ifs axle and rear disk brakes at once im just waiting to move and for it to cool down here in az. im curious to see if my f 150's will flex more im using sky's 3 inch hangers.

your 37's look sick though, could you measure your frame height from the ground? it looks pretty low for 37's.

keep up the good work, awesome build.

What length rear shock are those? 8"? You have a lot of shaft showing on the right one even with it at "full bump"

I would recommend 12" or mayybee some 14" shocks. Is that a Sky-Manu. shock hoop? I ran 2 leaf+overload chevies with no blocks and that same shock hoop and I ran 14" shocks. Then I ran the same setup with 8" shocks and moved the shock tabs on the housing way in towards the center of the axle.

Rear shocks are 10". At FULL compression there is ~2" of the shaft showing. But like I said, the shocks aren't limiting it, it doesn't change the flex even when I take them off. There is just over an inch still in the shock.

I'll get that measurement.

jrock

Okay, so I'm at 24" center of truck on frame and 27" on the front hanger :dunno:

that seems pretty low for 37's. I want to be at 23 inches on frame with ruf 150's and 35's. How much suspension lift do you think you have?
81 swb 22re 35's

jrock

Now that I have a 6 leaf front pack... 3" suspension and 1" body. Less when loaded with gear.

I'm thinking, after MCR, of taking a leaf out of the front, putting 5" shackles in the rear or setting my 6" shackle to a better angle, remove the body lift, replace fenders and cut firewall. I hope to lower it about 1.5" :dunno:

84xcab

Interesting to see 24" to frame with 37s. I have the 3 leaf f150s with overload removed and after seeing yours think its a tad to tall at 23" to frame with only 33s
Bobbed 84 xtra cab, pickin up parts as I go.

If at first you do not succeed, put it in 4low and try again.

jrock

12" Shocks. 6.5" up-travel.

jrock

I still need to brace the hoops.

jimbo74

wow your truck has come a long way.... i remember jsut last year before i went in you were thinking of selling it

you took out the bottom leaf on the f150s? stupid me noticed mine are 4 leaf. How do you like em so far with only 3?

Great. Only reason I would put #4 back is if I took out the overload. Or if I had a 4runner. :)
