Tacorunner: I have seen your headers and I would be interested in trying some out. If the price is right I would be all over it.

with the balance shaft deleate, do u have to run lc's kit, or can u just pull the chain and get the bottom end balanced?

cause i pulled just the balance shaft chain off and have been runnin that way for 4 months now with no problems and alot more power

If you left the balance shaft in there you are probably fine.  When we did this on the race truck we actually pulled the balance shaft out of the engine and when you do that you have to plug some oiling holes so you don't loose your oil pressure.

so my 3rz swap is done and it runs great!  now all i need is a manuel ecu since i have a check engine light because my ecu is an auto.  when i call all the wrecking yards they say i need a number off the side of the original ecu.  is it the same number off my auto ecu of different?  if not where would i find the correct number?  the motor is an '01 tacoma 3rz out of a pre-runner 2WD. im in CA so im not sure if that makes a differance.
thanks for any help,
anthony

I am in the middle of wiring up my 3rz swap into my 83 and have a question about wiring the ignition.  On my 83 I have the ignition spots IG1, ST1, ACC and AM.  On the 96 ignition it has IG1, IG2, ST1, ST2, AM1, AM2 and ACC.  My question is how do I make the extra spots in the ignition to mate the 2 ignitions together?  ie how do I create the IG2, ST2, AM2, in my 83 ignition or do I even need to make these spots, can I just connect IG1 and IG2 together and so forth?  Any help on how to do this would be much appreciated.  I have figured all the rest of the wiring out except for this and it is driving me crazy!

does anyone know how much room you need from between the crank and raditor to run the stock engine driven 3rz fan , would some crawl under there 4x4 with a tape measure and while your under there make sure those high steer arms are torqued  :beerchug:

88_Pathy

Mine is 4.5in from the crank pulley to the radiator.  I run no shroud and it cools just fine.

85yotabox

so i finally got a manuel ecu and theres no check engine light for about 10-15 miles then i get a P-0500 (i think) i looked it up and it says speed sensor A malfuncion.  i thought that only happned with auto ecu's.  but with the auto ecu all my codes were in the 0400's whitch tells me it is a different problem then before. any sugestions???  smog is comming pretty soon and i still need to get it refereed. any adice would help.  once again the motor is a 2001 tacoma pre-runner A/T.
thanks,
anthony

85yotabox, I would check the easy fix first.  Maybe when you changed the ECU you accidentally knocked a wire loose.  Check the Green Orange wire, pin 8 on the 22 pin E5 harness (mine is a 98 3rz, your harness might be referenced as E8) it should connect to a Green Blue wire pin 10 from the 14 pin passenger kick panel harness.

I have a v6 radiator in mine. It works well.  And I do not have a build but I have a lot of pics.  What do you need to see?

I would like to see some motor mounts? I know the general idea and have not got to test fitting yet but some pics would be a

nice place to start.

I was sure by now "Marlin" or "Taco Runner" or "Bogger Runner" would have somthing for sale.

Quick question, Is there any difference between the 2rz and 3rz w59 bellhousings? I have a 3rz and a 3rz flywheel and need a bellhousing. It is much easier to find a 2rz bell around here but I would like to run the 3rz flywheel and clutch as I heard they are bigger.

Nope, no difference.  They 2rz and 3rz flywheels are the same outer diameter but the 3rz flywheel has a larger surface for the clutch disk to ride on.  Right now I have a 2rz clutch and flywheel from the junkyard in mine - I had to do that because it took me a while to find a 3rz flywheel in the junkyards.  I'll resurface the 3rz flywheel and get a new clutch before I pull the trans for anything.

Anyone know is the 3rz computer useses in anyway the speed-o info? I plan on just useing the mac-speed-o and was just wondering.
If you see it, its for sale.

SFD4x4

Has anyone gotten an 83 tach to work with this swap?  I am swaping a 96 3rz into my 83 and I can't figure out how to get the tach working.  I have searched quite a bit and have looked into the 10k ohm resistor, which is what I think I have to do but I can't figure out where to put it. All the swaps that have posted pictures with the 10k resistor have been 85 and above. If anyone has a picture of an 83 tach that has been modified or could post a picture with what I should do that would be awesome!

Big Mikes works.  I believe that with a 96 (distributor) that you simply attach the tach wire to your tach.  Since they bot run off of the distributor.

Yes it does, my scan gauge reads my speed off of the computer, with 4.88s and 35s it was very close by the way
