Did you know that the Cummins 4BT weighs more than a small block anything.  :yesnod: And they definitely can be tuned relatively easily to put out massive amounts of torque really easy.  :driving: Forget running Toyota running gear.  :stomp:

Mark, have you considered a 1kzte toyota diesel?  (have I mentioned this before?)  I'm pretty sure they come with an r151 tranny, but the biggest downside is probably the price.  Really good power, high redline (5,000 rpm I think) and a very good dependability record.

Is this a 4 or 6 cyl? and is it electronic or mechanical injection?

They came in Hilux Surf models.
Engine is available on EBAY

This might help:

http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/30lt.htm

Toyota 1KZ-TE: The 1KZ-TE is Toyota’s turbocharged replacement for the 3L. This 3.0 liter engine is a new design from the ground up. It boasts high tech features such as electronically controlled fuel injection and engine and emissions management systems. The result is outstanding performance from a light weight engine, but for a pretty heavy price. The engine is not easily available in Pakistan at the moment, although that might change in the future. Most mechanics have no idea how to wire up this EFI engine, let alone make it work properly; the more conventional non-EFI 1KZ-T may be a better choice for the technically challenged, but it also makes a good deal less power.

Doh, It has to go on the exhaust side.  :outtahere:

you can route your exhaust to either side with some ceramic tape and a good mandrel bender.

that looks like a schrader valve on there. You inflate it and it holds the bead that way?? :dunno: what's the straps for?

That creates a chanel for the air to go around the inner liner to the tire from the valve steam.

OK, installing the beadlocks.
First he sucked the tire flat with his HVAC vacuum pump to break the bead. Then he had to find a way to secure it. Fortunatly we have stud holes in the garage floor to secure the bender in place.
The rest was cake! (6+ hours worth of cake!) I'll let him explain the process, here are the pics

After he did the first one, he sucked the tire down again with the vacuum pump so it would be lighter to put it back on the Mammoth.  :disturbed:

Glen, it was a piece of cake with the vacuum pump, he sucked it down flat and just had to coax the bead a bit to get it to pop.
I remember him doing the tires years ago with a huge sledge hammer and 2x4, what a chore!!

Anyhoo...
He moved the valve stem location from the outside edge where it could get knocked off by a rouge rock. Hopefully the hardware he sealed the orignal valve stem hole with will hold.

Now Mark is  cause he has all this cool :bling: but nobody can see it!

They didn't even give us stickers! ( :turtle: Y :turtle: )

FYI running over the tire right at the edge of the rim with a heavy vehicle like a box truck (hint, hint) or even a Samurai (just takes several passes) will unseat the beads.  :yesnod:

Just make sure to let the air out by removing the valve core and leave it out while unseating the bead.  :disturbed:

Could the staun valve stem have been placed outside of the center section or does it have to go inside? I only ask becuase won't it be close to hitting the brakes? Looks cool, that would be a nice space saving idea for carrying a spare.

It depends on where the valve is in the tube. It has to be put where it doesn't pull on the stem.
