Work has started on the new pulley.

After finding a 41mm socket to get the front crankshaft nut off, the pulley just pulled off by hand.

I chucked it up on the lathe and turned the front groove off and made s shoulder to center the new pulley.

Next I had to cut off a 1" disk from the piece I bought yesterday.

That only took an hour to get through.

Then I found it was too big to grab with the outside jaws on the lathe. I had to drill the center out on the mill and then bore the hole to fit the center on the pulley.

After fitting it to the pulley, I put it on the lathe and trued it up.

Tomorrow I will recess it to fit farther over the pulley and drill for the bolts to hold it on.

Then comes the groove for the belt.

There is going to be at least (6) 6mm 1.0 bolts holding them together. You will see later if I can get back on it tomorrow.

What wheel base are ya running, and whats your trackwidth?
What sort of flex did you get on the ramp?
And do you wanna come stretch my tub for my jeep?

Did you make a new frame, or stretch what you had? I am looking to stretch mine 20 inches. I am tossed between the Matkin's frame, or building it myself out of 2" tubing.

WB = 100"
Track is same as mini truck with 1.25" spacers and offset wheels.
I can get between 24" to 30" under one wheel (for now).
No, but I could make the needed panels you would need to fill in the gaps.

I did build the frame from scratch, it is way back in the first few pages. It is 2x4 11 gauge sq tube and 2x3 11 gauge sq tube.

Following what Reklund said before, I found myself making things so I could make things.

I had to make bushings and attachments for the pulley to mount on the rotorary table so I could drill the holes in perfect circle and the proper spacing.

Mark-

Looks GREAT!!!!  That should really help that blower cram some air into the engine!

It'd prolly be on the Jeep and operational if you didn't have to make stuff to make stuff....but thats half the fun of these projects!

Once Again, GOOD JOB  :beerchug:

Amazing work Mark.

Now all i need is my Mill and garage. :)

Inspiring work.

Questions for ya, is there a harmonic balancer on your diesel? Also why so few ponies on the rig? it would be pretty cool to have a nice Cummins or something dropped in there...of course, then the suspension would be whammo. But, it'd be sweetness.

No harmonic ballancer as in a rubber ring in the front pulley.

There isn't much for choices in a small 4cyl diesel and this is what I have to work with at the moment.

That would be nice to have all that power, but that would only cause things to brake and would be way too much weight. This engine is half the weight of the cummins and is fine off road.

I will be happy with a little faster acceleration and the ability to get up to hwy speed without having a line form behind me.

Hey,  So I have to ask you,  because of your impressive skills,  why did you go with leaf suspension rather than a coil,  or air :dunno:.  Seems like you could have whipped up something pretty professional looking in an hour or so.   :flamer:

Thats true,  they are fairely simple and easy to repair,  but this man has skills like nobody i have ever seen before.  He could have widdled that jeep out of a solid piece of aluminum if he wanted.  I have never been more impressed by any other project,  most people do a little then hire someone else to do the rest.  Anyways,  I am sure your right!

ding ding ding we have a weiner.  :king:  Not that he hasn't thought about other options, but there are/were more pressing things to be concerned about as it was being built.
Not that things won't change there either.

He would have whittled it out of styrofoam and then cast it out of aluminum if he could have melted enough on the grill.   :yesnod:

Well if he got about six or seven grills and had a bbq for your old club (I hear they like bbq's) then had them tend each grill as the aluminum melted and poured one fender at a time............

....... I think he should start etching a wooly mammoth's head on his creations like Marlin's turtle. :gap:

I am all excited now, I just took it out for a quick test drive and it is showing potential.

It is now blowing 12 psi and likes to accelerate in high gear.

Here is the last pictures of the pulley before I put up the video of the test drive.

And one of the mess I made of the rocks in the front of the house doing a little burn out before putting it in the garage. :disturbed:
