Thanks for the advice.

I cut the spru and vent off. This is what it looks like now.

Next step is to sand it to get rid of the roughness and start machining it.

thats pretty dang sweet right there.
I almost like the rough look on the outside.

I suggested to Mrs. Willy to use repiratory protection..but nooooooo yalls didn't wanna.  HEHE I would have. But i have stuff like that redilly available in my tool box. Painting and plaster dust tend to clog the nose pretty quick unless covered.

Welcome to the land of home casting! An excelent cast! Might I sugest that you spread dry sand on the floor so that if you spill molten Al, it doesn't hit the concrete which can explode due to residual damp.

I don't remember if I sent you this link http://www.host33.com/casting/ the last time we exchanged emails about casting. There's a good safety section in it!

Stock up on some Talc, Mark.  It'll make those beadlocks go in TONS easier.  A little silicone spray won't hurt either...

Where did you order the Stauns from? I'm thinking of getting them when I get a the tires for my other wheels. You guys should have stuck around at the Bash, there was a lot of carnage ncluding one of my radius arms.
Lator.....
Nissan's need Marlin too. Won't you help?

No offense, Gator, there may have been a lot of fun at the bash for spectators, but it was not a lot of fun for participants.
Standing around in the hot sun with our thumb up our :moon: for hours on end is not our idea of a fun day of wheeling. Especially not when a 1/2 hour break turns in to an hour and a half as three guys get to play and tear up the course.
We're going to forgo events and stick to trailriding from now on.

Does this mean you guys won't be at Wilson's this year? I know the wait was long. We expected half the crowd that we got. The break was so we could re-evaluate what was going on. I'm sorry you did not have a good time but sometimes that happens. We as a club are already looking into what can be done better next year. Our BBS is being transfered to another server but feel free to give your input into how we can make it better. The Miami guys had a blast. That may be because there was enough of them to cheer on eachother while they waiting for there turn. Hopefully I'll see you at the Volusia County Fairgrounds when Rick does his event. Anyway, sorry for rambling  :blah:

So where did Mark get the Stauns? Also with the casting, are you sure Marks real name ain't McGyver?

Lator......

Lady Di

LOL! I've been calling him McGyver for years. He's machining the nose cone today, he'll have more pictures later.
I know stuff happens, Gator. Just every event we have gone to has basically been excruciatingly boring, not our cuppa :coffee: I really doubt you will see us at Wilson's, but you never know.
Mark will post up later where he got the Stauns, I'm not sure.

looking good. I like that machining work. :-D are there any plans for painting the cast work or brusihing the aluminum. I see the dimples left from the deeper sand.

I need to find a better sand for my next casting. It will most likely stay just how it is, it's not a show vehicle, it's all function.
