I didn't think of that; will do. Now to save for 23-spline goodness and an adapter... see you on the trail in 2015!

Screw that, I'll buy tires before I have anything to turn them:

http://cosprings.craigslist.org/pts/2457221189.html

And when the post expires/deletes, it was a set of four 42x14 Iroks for 17" wheels with pretty damn good tread. Claimed 75% or better. $1000 for 42s?!? Crap!

So my future father-in-law is offering to buy me a plasma cutter Monday (6/27) and I'm on the fence on which one to get. I've been using a friend's Miller 375 with great success but have been looking at Hypertherm PowerMax 30 as well. They are nearly the same in price and performance. What would you suggest I get; Miller or Hypertherm? Or something else?

Picked up the Hypertherm PowerMax 30 today  :woohoo:

AirGas has them on sale for about $300 less than the Miller 375 and Hypertherm is a plasma-only company, been around forever, has a great warranty, I've seen 99% great reviews on various welding/fab forums, a heavy fab shop I worked for used them exclusively (building dump truck beds, utility boxes, heavy trailers etc...) and it came with a bunch of consumables.

I love my Miller welder and friend's 375 plasma, but after doing a bit of research I couldn't pass up the savings for a nearly identical cutter. It's dang light, too! We'll see how it works out; should be fun!

After all the wedding/hillclimb business has died down I FINALLY got to the shop and unpacked this:

Then the power went out so I couldn't fire it up. Dammit.

Also picked up a center section from a forward-shift case and cleaned it at work. Busy day...  :sleepy:

Fired it up today, it's so quiet compared to the Miller; I don't know what the difference is but it slices and dices Sa-WEEET!!! Tomorrow will be the last day rust bothers the 4Runner I've been slowly working on. Today was drill out spot welds and chisel apart panels.

And I didn't do squat to the 84; it's up for sale far as I'm concerned... except the suspension. That's all mine.

There's an 88 4Runner at work on consignment, here's info:

288k miles
auto trans
SR5 package tilt/incline gauges
22RE looks stock/no leaks
decent interior for a 23 yr old
new tires, stock size
paint peeling on hood
no visible rust
bone-stock
mostly dent-free
ShittyBilt bumpers (rusty)
good glass, decent tint (not old purple flaking tint)

Since it's on consignment I can ask the seller what they want and buy it before it goes through the auction. Now, what would you offer for it? I'm thinking way less than $1000 since it has nearly 300k on it, is an auto and has paint issues... which is no matter to me. If I score it, the auto would go along with the 22RE since I already have a 3.4 to throw in. The 84's axles would go under it this winter so that takes care of IFS garbage; still need duals though.

We'll see what they want for it tomorrow; here's hoping it's three digits.   :crossed:  They can keep the wheels/tires too; I have a few extras.

The money from the rusty 4Runner may go to this instead of a dual adaptor; I vote it a worthy cause. I need to stop buying parts for a truck I don't have... building up ass-backwards. I'll snap a pic or four tomorrow for a better idea of condition etc.

Well..................... found out what the dealer priced the Runner (you'd better sit down)

$3100 AMERICAN DOLLARS

Can you believe this crap? I am gonna watch it go across the auction block tomorrow, not sell and go harass the dealer about it immediately following the auction.

$3100... some people are always high!   :slap:  :slap:  :slap:  :slap:  :slap:

I couldn't stop shouting "3100?? Are you f-n serious?" and I'm still shocked. For 3100 I can buy TWO first gen Runners offa craigslist; both equally/better shape than that one.

I'm considering a visit to the dealer with $500 cash on Friday. "Gimmie that 4Runner you choad." :bat:

3100... bite my ass.  :punish:

3100... shiite. There's no flying way in hell they gave someone that much on a trade-in. Damn thing has nearly 300k!

3100... dealer, please! Even if they traded it for 1500 and are trying to make a ludicrous profit that's still too much.

3100... would buy Longs, a 23-spline dual adaptor, an auto trans and STILL have $ left to by a builder. And beer... very important.

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Didn't get a chance to beat up the dealer so there goes that dream ride...  ::)  However a fellow wheeler turned me on to an 85 EFI/auto that has been sitting for 5-ish years; water pump died so dude parked it. Asking $1500 but we all know that's not likely. Then today I find this:

http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/2522611830.html

88 SR5 4Runner, V6 manual trans, 280k miles (don't care) $1150 and on my way to work.   :eyebrow:  I'm waiting to get a phone number so I can call when I'm nearby. IIRC that should be a 23-spline R150 trans but with a chain-drive case, yes?

I figure I'll need a geared t-case adaptor wether I use a R150 or auto trans so I'll take what I can get. Still haven't gone to check it out; work has been kicking my ass even though it has already been handed to me this week. That is, work handed me my ass Monday and it has continued to kick it more today, and will continue do so tomorrow.   :therethere:

:beerchug:  ...makes the pain stop for a while.

We'll see when I get around to it; going in at 6am tomorrow and praying to get out before 6pm. Yep, I be busy.

And why is it nearly impossible to find 96+ 4runners anywhere? Crazy!

$250 roller 4Runner with no motor
http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=185929

That's a toss-up:

Get a running/driving local truck for $1000 or drive 6 hrs (one way) for shell/frame at 1/4 price.

Well now that I look at it, methinks I'll stay local. I can sell the 3.0 and other bits-n-pieces from it to help recover the initial buying price and use the R150 trans as well. I am too damn indecisive and am anxious to start building SOMETHING.

Crap.  :bud:

Debating between that local 4Runner and this puppy that was posted today:

http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/2532897331.html

98 tacoma excab, sr5, 5spd, 3.4 v6, 134k miles, has been rolled the guy I bought it from daily drove it after the roll but the top is off. It has 3" suspension, 3" body lift, and 35x15.50x5 super swamped sx's on it, it also has a tow package on it, and some rock lights! The spare is a brand new 33x12.50!
I am looking to sell or trade for an older Toyota 4x4, or Suzuki samurai, I would really like a run ing 79-85 toy 4x4

Waiting on a call back; he was packing or something. I'm thinking $800 plus my cab/frame/bed, maybe the 3.4 I have to sweeten the deal.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

It has 3" suspension, 3" body lift, and 35x15.50x5 super swamped sx's on it, it also has a tow package on it, and some rock lights! The spare is a brand new 33x12.50!
I am looking to sell or trade for an older Toyota 4x4, or Suzuki samurai, I would really like a run ing 79-85 toy 4x4

Waiting on a call back; he was packing or something. I'm thinking $800 plus my cab/frame/bed, maybe the 3.4 I have to sweeten the deal.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
