OK!
so i have to get a new vehicle (the blue runner is giving up the ghost) and i have a desicion to make. A frind of mine has a early 90s 12 valve cummins 4x4 he wants to sell, under 150k miles, it is a salvage because he hit a dear and messed up the body, but its been fixed (cab replaced paint etc.) its a clean truck, but i dont know what he wants for it just yet
OR.....
Im eyeing a 2005 tundra 4.7 V8 work truck with under 70k on it.
http://www.modestotoyota.com/preowned/index.cfm/action/view_2005_toyota_tundra_4wd_reg_cab_work_truck/vehicle/5TBKT42105S460396/#tools
i do want the towing power of the diesel, but i dont want to drive it around as my daily driver. and from what i have read, the tundra will tow what i have just fine as long as i can find the proper trailer (which i have found a few). also a little leery of buying a 20 year old vehicle (thats what i have now haha).
Input appreciated.

has anyone had an issue with their steering stabilizer leaking oil? looks like min is or something is dripping on it making it look like it is, but i dont see a drip spot. and i have not started the truck in a while, just fount a puddle of oil on the ground, cleaned it up and then next time i came out another smaller puddle........
doesnt smell like motor oil.

Nothing dripping directly above or near it? It could be leaking. There is oil in those. :yesnod:

its got a pretty good dent in it, but it just started leaking, dent has been there a while, i cant see anything directly above it that is leaking, there are some areas of moistness, but not enough to look like its dripping. and even then its not directly above it. will i need a stabilizer to do hi-steer? if not ill just leave it, if so ill buy a new one.

There's no reason to say that you'll "need" one but you might want one anyway. It's always a good idea for a 'streeted' rig. If anything, you could always remove it and set it aside to see if the oil leak follows it. :gap:

Did you already check fpr power "in" and "out" of the switch?  :headscratch:

well i have power on the acc wire. now that ive thought about the relay might be bad too.there is a red wire that should have 12v when still plugged into the switch terminal and switch set to on, but nothing is there. i was going to switch out the swotch with one my brother had but i guess he doesnt have that system anymore. the compressor works with direct power and when i switch the switch to on there is a draw on the system (volt gauge drops). hopefully i can get an answer from them soon. then i can move onto the tank.

Do you, by chance, have a diagram of your installation? This could make it easier to diagnose your problem if we can point at the same things even if we called them something different.  8)

If you draw one up, number each circuit or connection so we can point out each place for checking your system for a proper troubleshooting.

i do have the diagram, this guy is basically it.

right now i have nothing hooked up to switch one or two, just the iso switch. (would that be a problem?) the red yellow wire (acc) has power. the red wire should have power when switch is on and spade is connected to the switch, but i dont have power in either position. hence my thought process that the switch may be bad

Looking at that diagram, I would say to disconnect the Red wire from the switch (or near the compressor, whichever is easiest) and then , with the switch in the ON position and known voltage at the Red/Yellow wire, check for voltage at the spade terminal of the switch (or the Red wire itself near the compressor where you disconnected it) If you don't have voltage at either of those places then I would say the switch is no good.  :yesnod:

No es problemo!  :bandit:

Another thing you could do is to just connect the Red/Yellow wire to the Red wire and see if it turns on. That would just bypass the function of the switch and if it is the switch that should make it work. Problem confirmed! Or you may have to move on to the next step in the troubleshooting process.  :beerchug:
