Figured out the lower brackets.  Nice and simple.  I have to keep reminding myself not to let this get overly complicated.  These give me right at 10 inches of separation at the axle.  Gotta get the pass side to match and she will be ready to throw back under the truck.

i think tyou should build a little skid plate for those so that they dont hang up on rocks ect.

CTENG in KS

We will have to see what clearance looks like once they are installed, but I am betting they will be less of a rock anchor than you are thinking with the joints installed.  They are just BARELY big enough to house the Ballistic joints I am using.

lookong fgood man, what did you pay for those joints??

CTENG in KS

Mmmmmm...like $45 each or something.  I got them nickel plated too so that was a little extra, but hopefully nice and durable.

I got the last braces for the truss welded in and started mounting the coils.  I think I have it the way I want it.  Trying to figure the simplest way to do coil mounts and even leave the axle the ability to go back to leaves if needed.  I think this was creative utilization of washers...sometimes stacking is a good thing.

And those are genuine crawlerdan coils...BOIOIOIOIOIOIOING!!!!!!!!

Very creative.  I like it!  Cant wait to see how they work.

Keep up the good work :beerchug:

Made matching sides and threw some oil-based sealing primer on there cause the humidity was starting to make surface rusts.  Next I need to plate the bottom of the diff and clean the frame at all the mount locations.

Nope, that is pitted from corrosion.  It was all wire wheeled clean before I primed.  Nice try though.

No, just plated it.  I am not going through all that work to shave a toy axle.  I will just get some bigger tires.

It was finally under a zillion degrees out today so I finished one of the links.  Those ballistic joints are tough to get together, the bushings are a very tight fit.  And I wussed out.  I was gonna build all my brackets myself but couldn't decide what I wanted to do for the upper coil mounts.  So I ordered some up from Ballistic.  I was not aware that they are "some assembly required."
