IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Sweet, when those Ford's get old they are known for thier lust to wander.

Speaking of wander lust...
There is quite the dead spot in the steering and the box has an adjuster like the the toy IFS boxes do.  Is there a proper procedure for adjustment?  I threaded it in till I felt some resistance then backed out about half turn.  Is there a specific setting?

You want to have it in the neutral position when adjusting it, (steering box in the center position, not the steering wheel, there may be a notch on the box) don't make it too tight or it will ruin the box, then back it off just a tad, and then tighten the set nut. Ford boxes are known for that dead spot, doesn't happen to all of them but some do.

OK, It should have been pretty close to neutral position when I adjusted it and I backed off far enough that nothing is going to get hurt in there.  I was kinda worried about being too hard on old parts by tightening too much.  I will take it for a spin and see if it is better or needs more adjustment.

I wussed out, I just ordered a 2nd muffler for the beast.  I can't take it, that thing is so friggin loud.  I am gonna run a real short glass pack in line with the muffler.

So I finally got everything figured out...took much more time than I expected, looks like I will need to pull the engine cover and trim some of the framework behind the dash to fit everything, but I think it is gonna werk out. :turtle3:

Got the dash in, it will require a bunch of adjustments and the AC controls need to be moved out to line up...but it will certainly work for the time being and the stereo functions properly.
Also got the second muffler on...12 inch glasspack, nothing special but it dropped a couple decibels off the noise level so I hope that will calm it down.  Seems to have made the tone deeper as well.

Back seat is ready for pimpin, although I still need to bolt it down.

I readjusted the steering preload back off what I did last week and added a steering stabilizer that got here today.  I got it perfect.  I can let go of the wheel and it will track str8 down the road all day long, no shimmy, no wander.
