Got the pass seat in and started on the arm rests. I went with the black vinyl. Not the same black, but it is better than blue.
She is going to the shop tomorrow whilst I am at werk to see if they can get the distributor to turn. They have a torch, I don't. We made a deal, I'll pay two hours of labor, they will see what they can do and report in if it is a no go. Then I'll make a call from there as to what to do.

Went to start it to take it to shop this morning and melted the battery ground cable and smoked the battery. Gonna have to replace them tonight. Sure hope the alt is OK.

The good news: after a new battery and cables she fired right up! I also temporarily diconnected all the damn lights.
So i finished one arm rest and started tacking a few places together to get the covers to fit better.

You shoulda kept the one arm rest loose enough to pull off so you could make a pattern out of it and cut the other ones off of that. Then, you could sew them in reverse and turn that seem on the front inside out and it would be cleaner.

Still cool though how you are doing all this. I dont have that kind of energy, maybe thats why I am a lard ass

I tought about it, but it is actually just as easy to do them on the arms cause they aren't all exactly the same anymore. Some have more padding and structure left than others. I have no energy left, I am simply driven by the thought of MCR and the fact that Mark has swapped and engine in the time I have been doing this "easy" stuff.

If you notice, the original underside of the seat is pressboard. It is getting old an cracking. By using the plywood I was able to even out the original seat base and in effect, build a new one to keep the old crap from disintegrating.

As frightening as it is, thats what a lot of those old seats are attached with

My pop's van is the same way. dig underneath, and you'll find plywood at the base, and that is what the sliders attach to.

I will replace the seats later on as I am not thrilled with these, but they are certainly much better in this configuration than they were when I got it. It is actually pretty strong now.

The center dash panel has seen better days so I decided to try my hand at making a replacement.
I grabbed a nice piece of 1/2 inch birch plywood and got to tracing.

Got to cutting and its a nice fit for the "new" head unit I grabbed for $30 outta an '06 Civic. Should werk well, looks decent, but still has that cheap stock vibe so I don't feel so bad leaving the tow rig while on the trail.

Then on to some sanding...
