Doesn't look like the head bolt holes were cleaned either.  So I spent some time with a rag and brake clean.

Goodies From LC!   :hyper:

Cam, Springs, Dual row timing chain kit!

Before I took the head to another shop I wanted to make sure that is was the correct later style 84 head that will match up to the EFI intake so I went down and got an 86 intake manifold.   Looks good to me what do you guys think?  :dunno:

So I have to scrape that stuff off.  Do I need to make sure all of the paint is off?  (1st bone head question  :gap: )

There is no such thing as a bonehead question buddy and yes get all of that crap off, start with a knife or gasket scraper and then get a scouring pad like fer dishes and clean all that crap off so you have a good tight CLEAN seal

Get the head done,
Make sure my cam will work with carb (pretty sure)
Assemble and install engine.

The very least make sure the engine is running and broke in before the long trip.

I'm still trying to figure out what else i might want to try before the roundup. front locker, maybee.  dunno yet as money and time will be tight.

Quite the opposite actually.  Not lazy, over ambitious to the amount of projects I can simultaneously work on.  Then they all usually go equally undone.

You got the same cam I did, right? mine works bitchin.  What is left to do to the head? I assume you mean surfaced/valve job?

Wermz84

ya i did get the same one.  I went back and checked everything. So I'm good there.

And Ya again, Surfaced, valve job, replace seals and whatever else needs to be done.  Now I'm registered so I have a dead line.  :yesnod:

The truck is in my drive way in Santa Cruz.

the Chico work was because my 4runner broke on a visit to my dads house.  That adventure ended up costing me alot (part of the efi kit alot).  Car rentals, gas, parts, tow dolly rental.  funny.

Your more than welcome to come help if you want.   :gap: :disturbed:
I like to Drive!

Duffil

well I was thinking about it.  Just getting a bearing on what needs done/where the truck is etc. It's only like 2-3 hours for me to get to SC I think.  Maybe on a weekend where I get 2 days off in a row (4th) I could swing down and bust that pregnant dog out with ya.

Wermz84

If your serious that would be great!  :yesnod:  I'll provide food, gas money, whatever for the help.

It is a bunch of new parts with a bare block on an engine stand right now.

Heading to bed now.  I'll pm ya my number.
