To be honest, I was really wishing that the bumper would fit a bit tighter to the body.  I don't think there is anything better on the market, and it does look good, but they look MUCH better on the pickups.  All I can say is darn 4Runner tailgate!

I'll see how it goes, but it looks like the MC step plate just adds some bling but it looks to me like it reduces the departure angle.  Since I won't be towing anything, if it drags enough, that second bar and receiver might end up with WM.  I think the two D-ring mounts would be more than adequate for my needs.

gotrocks - do the pictures make the gaps look larger than they are?

We built mine really tight to the body and when you hit something it flexes in and dents the body. They were prob. trying to avoid this.

Did your bumper have a similar forwad attachment to the frame?  It is hard to see in the pictures, but the main ad on the website makes it easier.

mine ataches like this

That looks plenty stout, you didn't use exhaust tube did you?  A friend of mine at works knows a guy that build a front tube bumper with exhaust tubing then bent it all up without doing anything.

It is obvious that gotrocks gets all of the credit for the bdrunner build and so I have been trying to come up with a good way to give him some credit.  Here is my first draft.  The double diamond is because this is the 2nd rig to be blackdiamond, but due to its phallic inference it would likely be modified to be three to look like a pile of rocks.

For comparison here is a picture of a measurement to the floorboard on the 85.

I took a quick measurement on the rear fender and if the pickup bed and 4Runner body are fairly similar the ride height should be similar.

I should have it completed this weekend.  I took a lot more pictures than what I posted.  So far this seems to be going good and I have a couple ideas that you guys might not of thought of before.  I think its going to be a really clean looking tub job once its done

It looks like the difference in ride height will be 2 inches or less.

well once you make the cuts you need to fill in the gaps once they are flattened out.  I don't see how you would've done it without putting in some filler metal.  Got any close ups of your fender chop?

yotadork83

got rocks how long to you get the fender hack write up done. i got eager and allready choped mine up so i could fit my new 35's under my stock 88 also had to do extensive tubing but they fit no problem now. i have pics in my work truck build. do you have any tricks to relocating the cumputor.

The machine shop said that the block was maxed out so thankfully they had another one sitting around ready to go for a reasonable price.  There wasn't much good in the motor, but being true to Toyota it actually was still running fairly well.

This weekend the 85 is headed to Eastern Washington for the "organ donation" portion of the build.  This is going to be sad for me as the truck is my very first auto.  It has never let me down.

:rivers:  :goodnight:  :sad2: :shudder:

I guess it is time to look forward to new beginnings!

well actually it won't be mine.  I'm selling it to my buddy Snowrunner who totalled his truck when he wasn't even driving it.  I'll let him explain.  Anyhow he is really excited about getting it and he has the drivetrain parts that blackdiamond is going to need so its going to work out perfectly.  The truck will get a EFI transplant and probaby be running 38-40" tires.  Its going to look pretty cool.  It will probably get an interior cage as well and possibly a flatbed.  But I don't want to give all the suprises away.  Thats another build for another day.

yotadork.  Sorry the fender chop isn't finished for you to fallow  In the mean time go check this out.  It was kinda how I got my idea but I'm doing it a tad different.

I will post up some pics in the morning, as far as the gaps go i welded that first 1/4" and then it was good old silicon  I know not the best thing but the gaps on my were no bigger than a 1/4" or so. All and all it turned out nice excepted on the passenger side i found out that the front of the fender got smashed and instead of pulling it out they put an inch of bondo over it.
