I have alpine 5 1/4 in mine, they sound very nice.  If you plan on a sub (I run a 12 right now) then I would stick with the 5.25's for ease of fit and installation.  If you aren't going with a sub, then the upgrade to 6's would be a good choice.  If you go with the marine speakers it would be best to build a sealed enclosure for them so the weather can't get at the magnet and wiring.  I have seen poly buckets that bolt in with the speakers to cover the back and create a little sealed box...you might look for those?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I don't really plan to have the top off when it rains, but I figured that a marine speaker would give a little added protection and likely not reduce the sound quality.

I don't plan on running a sub on a regular basis, but I might borrow one from a friend and plan around with it.  I have thought about getting something really small, maybe just a 6x9 with a small amp and run it as a subwoofer to help the base out a bit.

Audio Update:

JVC KD-G420 CD Receiver 20W RMS x 4 (50W x 4 MAX)

JBL GTO 425 4" front speakers

Kenwood 800W peak 10" Single-Voice-Coil Subwoofer (350W RMS)

Kenwood 920 watt 2 channel amplifier (460 watts RMS x 1 bridged)

HBX10VEGATC 10" Single Ported MDF Subwoofer Box

Unknown 5-1/4" rear speakers

The subwoofer setup is way more than I really want or need, but when there is a great deal what am I supposed to do?

legacy's seem like good deals but in all honesty you get what you pay for.  I have seem them do ok but they just don't seem to be "clean" power.  IMO. I'd go with a better brand name lower amprage amp and you'll be more than satisfied with the sound.  Seriously.  I had a nice 200W amp powering 2 low end Rockford 12's and it was really nice.   When you say great deal how much do you mean if you don't mind me asking?

oh btw.

I don't' have classes tomorrow so with tomorrow and this weekend lots its going to happen on the runner.  I'll post pics later to make it more suspenseful

You will note that I updated the audio information in the previous post.  I opted to get a Kenwood amp instead of the Legacy at gotrocks suggestion, plus I got a great deal on it as well.

How much do you know about speakers?

Did you know that the speaker efficiency, or sensitivity, is the "output measured at one watt - at one meter" where the output volume is measured in dB?  It takes about a 3 dB change in volume to be detected, and it take twice the power from the amp to accomplish this.  Also, a 10 dB change in volume is considered to be double, this is a general observation as a 6 dB increase is scientifically the correct number.  I will assume 10 dB to be conservative.

An example would be the Kenwood subwoofer that I purchased is rated at 91 dB (This does not include the added efficience from a box).  This means that volume output is 91 dB measured 1 meter from the speaker when the amp is producing 1 watt of power.

A friend of mine has watched sound boards at professional concerts and said that concert volume is about 97 dB.

This would mean that my new 920 watt amp would only be pushing 4 watts at 97 dB.

The Kenwood subwoofer that I purchased is rated for 350 watts RMS which would equate to a little over 115 dB.  The Kenwood amplifier is rated at 460 RMS which would also equate to about 116 dB.

For reference, concert volume (97 dB) doubled (+10 dB) would be 117 dB which is way more than anyone needs inside a vehicle.

Note: the subwoofer box is probably good for 2-5 dB increase in efficiency.

I don't know if you could tell from earlier but the welds came out really nice.  I always feel good to lay down some dimes.

Here's a teaser shot of how it will sit on the springs.

The shackle angle looks really bad right now but the engine isn't sitting in it and when I is in I bet it will settle a minimum of an inch

I finally put together a complete list of mods for the build.  Most of the parts are already purchased, are currently installed on my truck or are waiting to determine the required lengths.  The rear speakers and rear bumper are just waiting for funding.  Maybe the IRS will be good to me this year.

I got the subwoofer assembled today and tested.  A friend and I hooked it into his home stereo and used it to replace his Infinity IL-60's built-in subwoofers (two 12" with 500 watt amps) worth about $2,000 for the pair.  The Kenwood subwoofer couldn't compete with the quality of the Infinity, but considering it was designed for a car audio environment and the IL-60 subwoofers have been tuned, using RABOS, to the room it sounded really great.  We were using a 400 watt power supply and we blew the fuse at least three times without even pushing the volume which meant that we were pushing more than 400 watts into the subwoofer.  We needed a car battery for those cold cranking amps!  The Kenwood amp never even warmed up so its cooling fan worked very well.

I just hooked up the subwoofer with my home audio setup and it is amazing.  The difference between my friends house and mine made a significant improvement in sound.  I think it might even sound better than my IL-50 (two built in 10" 250 watt subwoofer) speakers that are the little brother to my friends IL-60s.

It is amazing how different the base response is in different rooms.  My friend and I used to be roomates at a house that had a 30 Hz resonant frequency, so far the best we have done since then is in the low 50's.  That room would shake with bass response.

This particular subwoofer seems to sound better out in the open.  When we turned it around from facing the corner at my friends house it really cleaned up the sound and at my house it isn't near a corner and the ceiling is much higher giving it more room to breathe.
