olivedrab's 87 runner
« on: Aug 16, 2006, 04:56:49 PM »
This is my runner i've been working on the last six months, SAS, 5speed swap, paint and body, 30 spline longs, 5.29s locked front and rear, dual 2.28's, rear chevs, trail gear 5" fronts, hy-steer, cross member, 37's, bla bla. I didn't make a build up thread on that but i'm gonna start a thread before mcr5. The list is something like:

t/chain
build rear bumper/sliders
more fender trimming
axle relocation plates 1" forward
rock lights
4.7's in rear case (ordered)
install CB
fix leaking axle seals
diff armor
ect. ect.
So looks like I have some work to do! Ill start posting up pics

Looks good.  It won't take long to break in those nice shiny rims.  Beautiful rig.

Got off work early today decided to do axle seals, when I got my birfs out they were binding bad. So I called bobby and he said some of the 30 spline chromos had burrs in them and he'd replace them for free. Since I have no front axles for a few days i took out my rear t/case for the 4.7s.

Got a little more done today. Installed CB with mini external speaker. Since I had my square shaft out I cleaned it up and added a grease fitting.

Did you have any trouble getting those longs to seat? I had trouble and I know alot of other have aswell especially on the short side. I wound up knocking it in the last inch with a mallet, come to find out this causes alot of longs to break because it pushes them past the snap ring. Now I have to pull mine and check em out before MCR5.

Lookin good though

Took it out to the testing grounds by my house. The 4.7's are nice don't even really need to use the clutch anymore over these small rocks.  Sorry bout the blurry

Yea your lucky especially how hard you wheel it. I haven't got to wheel this much yet so i don't know how strong it is. I wan't to run lil sluice so hopefully it will hold up! :disturbed:

some time friday probably around 10 or 11 am ill leave here.  It depends though if I drive the truck there I might want to leave late at night for less chance of getting pulled over because its like 3 hours on the highway for me but I dont know yet.  I have the day off and can leave whenever I want
