sorry I didn't get these up last night. I figured blackdiamond would understand that my homework was more important at the time.

I got a few more things to finish bolting it all up like the u-bolts and greaseable bolts to get the springs mounted.  It looks good so far.  I am pretty impressed by the Alcan springs so far.

think a have enough tires?

and heres a random shot.  Whats missing?

Shamb

where's your rear axle at?

Alcan's are okay.. ask Toynorcal and Phat_Biatch.. they both run them.

Toynorcal's had trouble with his, he's actually going to be pulling them off soon because they're trashed.

R.I.P to my Papa, I miss you pops......

remember my 60 on my buggy has a broken ring gear so i'm fixing it right now.  Its easier when its not in the rig.

In regards to the Alcans well... I have used Marlins springs and have had 2 sets go bad on me so far.  I just think I am not really a spring guy and just need to link my stuff instead.  These Alcans should be good for blackdiamond though.  He doesn't thrash his stuff like we do.

No worries on the pictures gotrocks.  I checked this morning and had school board this evening.

:clap2:

Anything in particular that you like about the Alcan springs?

I'm just interested to see how their rear pack works out.  It has more leafs than the MCI one and since the demensions are a little bit different it will be interesting to see how they perform on very similar setups.

Captain J

looks like you got a very nice place to start. I am very glad that I got a 4runr and did it for the same reason, the need for passenger space.  and thankfully, I have a similar finance situation, I Grlfriend is all about me fixing up my project
Beast.

its nice isn't it.  My wife loves 4wheeling and as long as I don't spend ALL my money on it she's ok.

I managed to get more done tonight.  So far the passenger side is almost done being tubed.  It is coming out really nice so far and not to scare you blackdiamond but you could fit some bigger meats in there if you wanted to.  I don't think you'll need larger shackles.  I had ot take more metal out than I had would have initially planned on taking out.  But no worries it looks good.

there is 10 3/8" of clearance from the top of my worn down 35 SSR's to the bottom of the fender.

here's a teaser of some bigger tires I know how much you love boggers

blackdiamond

Excellent!  I would rather have more room and zero rust than the alternative.

The shackles will only be adjusted to match the ride height with the front as required.

What size are the 35's?

Those boggers make me think of CTENG.

here another one with my favorite tires

here how we did the underside of the fender.  I am planning on putting metal in on the top of the sections and then undercoat the fenders so hopefully it will look stock and you won't be able to tell very easily

blackdiamond

Excellent x2!

Is it possible to get a picture of the whole truck from the side?  :dunno:

Now quit playing with tires and get back to work!  :whip:

Did Aaron get his exhaust for Xmas? :santa:

So far the passenger side is almost done being tubed.

bd informed me that the word tubed refers to tub-ed.  I believe the correct spelling would be tubbed.  (example:  dub is dubbed).  Sorry to be the English teacher, but when I can't figure out what is being said.....   :dunno:

Looks good gotrocks!  :cheer:

gotrocks

no he got a hard drive.  I don't think he got any parts for his camero.

I will try to get some pictures from further out.  Its hard when I have the other 4Runner in the shop to get far enough back to get a full side shot.

gotrocks

haha sorry for the spelling.  Thats why I am going to school to become a mechanic not to become a english major.

havik

what did you use to make those super clean cuts?
lazer?
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

gotrocks

I will do a write up on how I do it to the other side.

but a inside secret of how I do my fender chops is use a sawzal for my rough cuts then I use my air saw for the smaller more fine tuned cuts.  Once I'm done doing that I use a flapper disk and smooth out the lines.  My best suggestion is use a guide to go by before you start cutting.  It will save you a lot of headache from trying and free hand it.  I like to use electrical tape because I can mold it to the lines I want to follow.  Check back for a separate thread that I'm going to put up within the next week.

i do my pass side tomorrow....hopefully
iam only using a diegrinder. thats all i have. but i have read all of your builds and you do great work. blkdmnd is lucky to have you build his rig.

Thanks man. I want you to know I haven't forgotten about the front CV's that i owe you. I'm really sorry I haven't gotten those sent out yet.  Right now I'm at school 27 hours a week and working 10 hours as well not including homework so my days are pretty much taken up.  Oh yeah and I just got married so I have to keep mrs.gotrocks happy.  As soon as I get a chance they will be sent off.  I hope you haven't broken something and are waiting for me.

I am in full agreement.   :yesnod:  I wouldn't let gotrocks build it if I didn't know it would be top notch.

If I could find a "smiley" of vultures circling this might be an appropriate place to use it.
