ya i got the evap box, and i was looking at that kit, i dont wanna run the box lol, since deq is pretty easy to pass up here

chim

Engine is now running!!! Wahoo.. There were two wires that were wired incorrect and then the fuel pump needed to be wired a little different so it's alive!!

chim

Video quality is just ok, I will get a decent one this weekend.. It still needs radiator hooked up and alternator and intake... Lots to do :)

My buddy is a wiring champ and makes it look easy so I cant take credit. I will post some notes though when I am done but basically you need to identify the wires first and that takes the longest.

83 Crawler

If i pay your buddy think he would help???

chim

I can ask him... If anything I can get you my diagrams and highlight the wires that we used. It should be the same for the 3RZ side but body side would be different since you have first gen...

ya i think be alot harder on my end

So far the swap has been pretty smooth.. lots of little stuff here and there that add up in time but it should be running this weekend! Although I will have to drive it to the exhaust shop on straight header!

I am not sure yet.. I made a sketch that I was going to send to a couple local places in Oregon City to get a quote.. I need to find somewhere as close as possible because I don't want to drive to far with open header.

Updates???
It's running! I drove it up the street yesterday. I think today we will spend a couple hours cleaning up then maybe sometime this week I will drive it to the exhaust shop and get that done. It's running straight header now. I will get a video up tomorrow with picture updates :)

Yeah that would be cool

We decided to use the 22RE Fan so that the stock shroud would work without cutting... its a little smaller fan but since its in the shroud it should cool at least as good or better than the 3RZ with no shroud. Bolt pattern was the exact same as the 3RZ but the 22RE fan had to have the holes drilled out for the larger studs on the 3RZ side.

chim

Upper radiator hose is stock 98 Tacoma 3RZ hose with no cutting.

Lower radiator hose is 95 T100 2WD 3RZ. I trimmed one end 1.5" to have it clear steering joint. Fits great.

(Using 22RE Radiator)

This picture is taken as a reminder to jump a couple wires. Runner would fire and run about 2 seconds then die... So the old Mass Airflow sensor was jumped in shrink wrapped up and fixed the problem.

chim

Stock 3RZ oil pressure sender would not work with factory oil pressure gauge. But the 22RE oil pressure sender worked like a champ.. just swap senders, splice the wire and go!

As a note: the volt gauge and temp gauge work fine with no mods.

Tach is not hooked up yet because I believe it needs the 10ohm resistor soldered in.. I need to find a pic of how its done.

chim

Then out of the blue we decided to throw in my add-a-leafs since I rub with my 37's.. I am also sagging in the rear with the 63's.. so I bought 2" add-a-leafs... now its level and should help with the rubbing...

I'm hoping to take a day off of work this week to get the exhaust done. Then sometime this next weekend we will run codes on the engine before completely soldering all the connections and calling it complete!!

It's kinda hard to tell at the moment because I didn't want to rev it too much with the straight header.. it was just too obnoxious!
