This is the 85 4runner I just picked up for $2,000...  Its all stock with a 22RE engine. The engine had a bad head gasket but I have the reciept as it was a factory Toyota reman engine with now with only 19,000 miles on it. We just replaced the head gasket and it runs rough...  my top mechanic thinks its a manifold vaccuum leak so we will see if that cures it. Compression is now good at a hair over 160 on all 4 cylinders. They were 150 in one and 40 in the other 3 before we started.  Two days ago I ordered ARB's for front and rear with Yukon 5.29 gears on the way.  I just got off the phone with CJ from Marlin and he is sending me the Trail Flex kit along with a dual case adapter. Thats a crap load of cash in just three days!  :shocking:  Attached are the stock pics of how I bought it. I will post more as more work gets done. :crossed:

Minor update: The engine was running rough, but after some tinkering my good friend found that it was a vaccuum leak at the intake manifold to the head around cylinder #3. So he pulled it apart, cleaned everything, changed gaskets, replaced injectors seals and all that crap, re-installed it, and it fired right up and ran like a champ. One exhaust leak fix and a new Optima battery and its now a daily driver. Thanks Matt for the help, your a good friend.

Here are pics of the bad head gasket...  if you zoom up you can sort of see where it was trashed...  also is a pic of the new gasket and head... see the hi-tech timing chain hold!

had trouble getting the rear axle centered in wheel well, after moving rear hangers back 3.5" and the front one 6" it was pretty close..  test fitting a 35" bogger, then we are prepping the 87 rear axle for install.

my 6 and three year old.. acting like they are helping..  actually they did help push it back in the shop..  funny thing is that my 3 year old noticed that we only had 5 lug nuts in the rear tire..  he is going places when he gets older!

This is how its sits without shocks, shock install started shortly after...  wheel well measurment shows an 8" increase..  funny since the springs are 4" fronts and 5" rears :) they should settle a bit though.

awesome rig, i want to see some action shots when its all done  :driving:  also those little gay swirly things are nothin haha the dude who had my four runner before me thought it would be cool to do some orange pinstriping down the whole body and inbetween the pin stripes it has this great orange paint that fades to purple lol. its only like 2 or 3 inchs wide so i dont really care but still i dont see why some people do some of the stupid crap to their vehicles that they do. :smack:  haha people.
