hows the power over a 22re?

By no means is it a race car, but it has more power... its enough gains to not feel completely under powered like it was before. I would say it gets around town a lot more comfortably than it did before.. it would struggle on hills and have to totally rap it out with the 22re... plus the fact that it runs smoother and more silent (No more valve chatter) is a huge plus!

sweet! what kinda mpg do you have?

chim

right now my mpg sucks... I'm hoping its because I haven't fixed the EGR code.. I'm going to try running a resistor for that.. maybe when my codes are handled it will be getting better but the first tank of gas was 15.5 mpg.. there may be a learning curve for the ECU as well so we will see

83 Crawler

ya i think im going to egr delete as well and run a resister, i hered of people getting 20 mpg with that

Mine has EGR codes as well.  I don't remember the code numbers, but there were two for EGR insufficient flow, I believe.  But my mileage has been consistent 18.4-5 running 75-85mph. (interstate driving, 4.10 gears, 33" tires)

In the week and a half it's been done, I have 3000+ miles on it.  I did manage to slow down to 70mph average today and got 19.6mpg. What are your EGR codes?  And I gotta figure out how to fix it...

Catching up with a little update.

Since last post I did the following:

Changed out my old stabilizer...

with new

This is the part# I used... got it for $35 on amazon

Had my exhaust done... 2-1/4" with magnaflow, stainless cat...

Used a resistor to jump the EGR, no codes :)

Blew the high pressure steering line:

Had to rig it to get home.. bailing wire and Gorilla tape

This was the line

Changed my spark plugs.. had one odd ball in there.. kinda weird.. it looked old... but replaced all with NGK Platinums and changed oil and put in full synthetic.. engine seems to run really smooth.

Now I need to figure out how to hook up my evap system or eliminate it to get rid of my last remaining engine codes.

I havent heard that..  :dunno:

Reasons for swap: power, OBD2, reliability, smooth quiet engine, it was a great deal....

Finally got around to doing my alternator plug.. only because I was having charging issues.. had a couple wires backwards..

Its hard to tell in this pic but I had my alternator wiring kinda rigged up since the alternator plug is part of the body harness and not the engine harness I didn't have the factory 3rz plug until a few weeks ago when I found one at the junkyard :)

The difference between 22re and 3rz... both use same color wires..

All spliced in working like a champ and no more temp wiring!

chim

This weekend my buddy and I did some maintenance..

Reset the toe adjustment..

Then I did my rear axle seals and wheel bearings with Marlins kit... so nice to have it done and no longer leaking gear lube out my axle!!!

For the heck of it...

Yes, leaks suck and are embarrassing... its not like I'm driving a vw :)
Thanks for the compliment!

I got my Marlin Crawler front bumper a couple weeks ago and figured it was time to get it on...

First thing was to get this ugly thing cut off...

and get rid of these blinkers...

So I cut off old..

Meanwhile painting the new..

A little bit of grinding..

All clean and ready for new...

Bolted up...

And with my trailgear blinkers temporarily mounted..

Still more to come.. I need to weld on the stinger, light tabs and lights, and weld blinker brackets on...

I know this is not hard core, but it was well needed... new tail light lenses...

Old vs new

Then I added some LED reverse bulbs and new lens seals...

Comparison shot... Old on left.. LED on right..

Then both LED...

I second the vote on superbrightleds. All the bulbs I put in my cluster and everywhere else for that matter are great. No problems had

I have kinda neglected the runner for the last few months but its time to start giving it some attention again.

Replaced my old worn out bilsteins for some Rancho 9000 adjustables

Rides a lot better having shocks that actually work... now I need to mess around with the different settings to see how they ride :)
