nice to see some progress pictures!  gonna look sick, how do you plan on mounting all the interior misc engine compenents?  Powersteering resevoir and all that stuff?

I can probably get you a really good price on some 1/8" stainless steel if you want to plate the inside, just let me know.

can't wait to see this thing linked with those air shocks!

Pat had some of the stuff mounted on there already, so i have to sort through what goes where.  then make some brackets or something to mount the rest.

Ramrod

I had the coil mounted on the valve cover.  Power steering res. mounted on the plate on the drivers side tube.  and the fuse block, and the two other things on the passenger side.  You have a different and bigger fuse block so thats gonna screw it all up but if you pull out your wiper motor you'll have lots more room and it will all fit as long as you have only 1 wiring harness

The rapter#2 is alive LOL. looking badass brad are you going to put bigger tire's on now, there's nothing to rub on anymore?

Hyena

the wiper motor is already out of it so the room is there.  the wiring i am still trying to sort out.  the stock woring harness still run the cd player, but that is it.  i m not sure if the efi wiring harness has connector for the cd player.  i will have to look at that.  i am not going to take out my dash again because it is a major pain in the ass with the cage in there.  so that makes it harder to take out the whole stock wiring harness and and connect the cd player to a power source.  o well, i will figure it out.

i might take it out for a snow run hear soon.  i don't have to money for the links yet since it is a christmas time an all, but after that it is on.  i am thinking january sometime.  but plans could change.

I will be sticking with these 37's for awhile.  they do rub on the firewall so bigger tires will just rub more.  and of course i don't have the money for 39.5 Iroks.

Shamb

bah!  why mess with 39.5's?   just go 42's or bigger when you get it linked!   :yesnod:

nice tubing cant wait to see it finished

Hyena

more progress  still have to fit the hood better, attach the wiring and stuff and add some more tubing braces.

DTB

what is the front clip welded to near the firewall? trying to remember whats there to weld onto....... :flamer:

Hyena

i notched the top of the firewall so the tubing will fit insdie of it.  then i welded it to the sheetmetal.  then i put a flap of sheetmetal over it to make it a little stronger and make it flow better.  i wasn't counting on that to be a very strong point anyway.  thats why i will be cutting off those ford shock towers and makeing a brace/shock mount for more stength back towards the firewall.  it should be good.  Pat didn't have any braces on it when it was on his truck and it didn't go anywhere.

inmyownsummerami

Looks sick man. Are you going to lower the hood much? It looks like its going to block the view out the front where it is now.
Me and Bryan cut the front clip off his truck the day after thanksgiving. He's gonna have to hack the crap out of his hood to get it to sit lower since he has the 3.0.

Hyena

i am gonna try and get it to sit on the tubes.  so maybe an inch lower.  but i have to cut a bunch of stuff off the bottom front part where the latch is.  but i won't be able to lower it any more then that.  I was over at Bryan's house yesterday helping out with the exo.  he got the passenger windshield bar done and welded on.  he was suppose to work on the drivers side today.

alwayzbroken

Can you hack out the whole latch assembly and just use hood pins to get it to sit on the tubes?
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Ramrod

I had mine sitting all the way flush with the top of the tube when I was using that front clip and was gonna give brad the hood but someone shot it with a shotgun at fordyce

:rofl2:

Sounds like you guys have a good time when you go out. You might as well give him the hood anyway. It would probably look good on there.

Ramrod

actually I was kinda pissed and the hood was pretty trashed.  They did it when I was in my tent busy with my girlfriend.  It had a dent about 4" deep that was like a foot around and probably hit the intake and 3 other holes from a handgun

the hood was on your truck and they were shootin at it, did u shoot them?

Ramrod

the hood was propped up against a bush in front of my truck actually but  dont really care cuz i knew I was parting the truck out when I got home anyways

Hyena

im gonna cut everything out front under the front part of the hood.  the whole latch part under there is hitting the tubing.  i already have 2 hood pins to secure it so i don't need that crap anyway.

Ramrod

you'll like your hood alot more after you cut all that stuff out because its only gonna weigh like 5 pounds

Hyena

haha, im never gonna take it off.  i still have the hinges on it!  i had to cut off the two forward bolt holes on the hinges but the back two still work.  it pretty light right now too.

Hyena

so my drivers front tire has a weird angle to it.  the housing might be bent.  i will look at it more closely when i get it out of the shop.  looks like i might have to build me another front housing.

Guys shooting at hoods! I love it.

Folks in my neck of the woods attach a hood to the bumper via tow strap and do donuts to see who can stay on the longest...even on asphalt!

I have seen this behavior! It is not pretty!

I have never seen anyone shoot a shotgun at a hood though. I better not mention it around the South!

Gusset the main tube and knuckles its a must when you get a new one. Is your tire camber in? Then thats the knuckle thats bent, jack the front tires off the ground and see if there is any play in the wheel pushing in and out from top to bottom. There shouldnt be any. Could be your trunion bearings or wheel bearings if it moves.. I had this problem from my wheel bearings getting loose.
