cool, im using a 15 gal stainless steel keg for my fuel cell, i just need some foam to keep it from sloshing, then its done, so how did u end up getting the box back together?

I got 2 new seals and used a hose clamp to make them shrink a little after i put them on the worm gear.  i let it sit for a day like that and then took the hose clamp off,  they slid right in the groove after that.

And ya i am going beef.  i plan to drive this thing like i rented it.  going with 2 inch .250 wall for the links.  i dont want to break it.

yep, i was going to go with bent lowers but i have no way of bending this thick ass tube.  dual triangulated 4 link.  I will most likely be doing it at locktup's house in one weekend.  gonna have everything ready.  makingthe brackets at work.  i already have the Fox 2.0 16 inch air shocks.  just ordered the flex joints. and i will order the tube next week when i have some money lol.  this weekend i will be clearing out my bed and cutting the floor for the gas tank and the shocks.  might not have the tank done by this weekend like i had hoped.

i am keeping the bed and frame for now.  i don't really have the time or money to build a tube flatbed before the Hammers.

progree on the tank.  got the sides and bottom welded inside and out.  used the stainless steel mig instead of the tig.  i am not comfertable tigging something that has to hold gas yet.  we put a crossbend in the middle on both sides to help prevent warping.  sorry the pics aren't that great, took them with my phone.

I haven't done a lot of stainless.  but it seems pretty much just like welding regular steel.

you can crank the welder up a bit more on stainless. I'd imagine that fuel tank isn't light either!  Wait til it has fuel in it.. lol

My flatbed is plated with stainless and it weighs a ton.

Where do you plan on mounting the fuel cell?

in the front of my bed.  it will sit like this: gas tank, black storage box, air shock/mount, then misc stuff.  i wanted to keep that slider tool box that i have but i don't have room for it.  i will keep it when/if i build the flatbed.  it would work good then.  the space between the air shock mount and the front of the bed is just barley big enough for the gas tank and the box.  i am going to recess the gas tank about 5 inches down throug the bed so there will be some space ontop of it.

I thought you were going to run coils in the rear and put the air shocks up front?

Truck doesn't run yet.  won't be able to figure that out till i get my tank done.  I haven't wanted to link the front of my truck yet.  the front springs work pretty dang good for me.  and it would cost a lot more for the front.  i am not sure about polishing the gas tank.  Jason, i am thinking about mid march to be ready to link it.  I plan to make the high lakes trip on march 3rd so after that it should be good to go.  what does your schedule look like?

Cool.  i am going to make the brackets and stuff at work in the next couple weeks.  Maybe i can bend up a truss for the axle.  how high is your truss?  i will go and take measurements today to see how much tubing i will need and see how everything will fit since the tank isn't in the way anymore.

My truck is at the paint shop so I can't get you a measurement on the truss.

nope, i wire brushed the frame, hanger and the box when i had it out.  the power steering leak i have had for the last year and a half coated the frame amd it did take awhile the the wire brush.  hopefully it doesn't leak anymore and it stays this clean.

Fuel cell is done.  pressure tested it.  had 3 very small leaks.  welded them up and it is good to go.  I had to lower the pump 2.5 inches so it would still pick up gas from the bottom.

looks good, what did you end up using for the bungs and the mounts for the sender and pump? it almost looks like you cut the stock ones out and welded them in, and also did you use any foam inside it or any sort of baffles? ive been looking into making one out of aluminum but not shure what to do about the bungs yet? thanks in advance
