Approximately how long (number of hours) did it take you from start to finish?
I think I may have missed it, what model of welder are you using?

Brad did you end up tuning those airshocks or just leaving them the way I gave them to you?

Those had alot more oil then stock because I was running them on the front, just curious if they worked out for you.

I'm in the process of tuning my rears with NO oil in them

o ya, im going to the Rubicon tonight for a test run.  Be back tomarrow.  got the rear wheel spacers on and flexed it out.  lifted a rear tire 53 1/2 inches off the ground.  57 1/2 inches to the forks of the forkift.  the front tire only lifted roughly 45 inches or something, i didn't measure that.  and the tires still rub the frame like crazy.

locktup

NO I DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY AND THE CHECK IS ALREADY TORN IN HALF  :flamer:

Good luck with the test thrash.

I am back.  The trip was awesome.  the links work better then i thought they were, soooo awesome.  no problems with them at all.  It is way more stable at angles and flexes so much more.  my tires rub the rear fenders by about 3 inches now!  looks like i gotta get the saw zaw out again.  Abouth alf way to Spider and right before Walker Hill we stopped for a break.  i was looking around the truck making sure everything was good.  Went to the front an noticed oil all over the front axle.  My ram mount poked a 1/8th size hole in my oil pan.  I managed to save about 3 quarts of oil.  This is about the time that Cruzila showed up from the spider side.  We drained the rest of it.  then i goobered silicone over the whole and waited for it to dry.  I then strapped a piece of steel flatstock to the top of the ram and mount so it wouldn't poke a hole in it again.  Then the dude that was with Scott had a good idea to wrap rope around the shock shaft to limit up travel.  Filled the engine up with the 3 quarts i saved, and another quart and a half of gear oil. that worked too.  Then we headed on our way to Spider.  this was about 10:30 or so at night.  We made it to spider with no trouble at all.  There was a lot of snow at Spider too.  no pics since my camera has been dead for a couple weeks.

Shamb

you disappoint me......

j/k

glad to hear everythings working. My oil pan is hammered from my links when I blew the front shock out and ran Fordyce with it completely blown out.

We met up with them up there.  He isn't working at Shaffers anymore.  He is working at a machine shop or something in Rancho Cordova.

Hyena

and my amp stopped working on the way in that night.  i need a new amp now  :(  sucks not having music.

So the list is:
new amp
fix oil pan
shave ram mount
redrill spring perch to move axle forward
rebuild front axle (bearing and seals)
install limiting straps for air shocks
replace oil in t-case and both axles
change fluids in the Ford (motor, tranny and rear axle)

And i am supposre to build a fuel cell for Kent's sami

I have to have all this done by the Hammers!

Thats gonna be expensive! The synthetic gear oil for the axle is 15$ a quart.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Ya, but i can have the labor done for free  :)  Pays to know people that work at the Ford Fleet Center.

toy4x4ota

whats the word on your brackets for rear discs by using the front calipers and rotors?

they haven't been cut yet.  i don't know when they will.  i won't have time to put them on any time soon so i am not in a big hurry to have them cut yet.

GrenadedToy

i bought the brackets techtafab makes and they fit perfectly. im running all toyota stuff in the rear. i paid 140 i think for the caliper brackets and GM 3/4 ton master cyl adapter.

Hyena

ya, so i got the hole in the oil pan fixed.  changed all the fluids in the axles, t-cases and engine.  and put some sealant on my gas tank pump flange so hopefully that stops leaking.  i cut down my ram mount about half an inch so hopefully it doesn't hit the pan anymore.  and tomarrow i am rebuilding the whole front axle and cutting the rear fenders!  and my amp all of a suddon started working again.  so all i would have left to do on this project is limiting straps for the rear end, redrill the front spring perches one inch forward, and get some drive flanges.  then there is my ford i have to work on and a jeep.  so many projects to get done before the hammers!

Whats your wheelbase gonna be at? Think you'll have clearance issues with the springs and your tie-rod?

my wheelbase was 115 before the links.  i don't think it changed.  i should have any clearance issues with the tie rod and drag link.  there was plenty of clearance.  but i need a new set of longfields.  mine are done for!

Yer gonna move your axle backwards? Or did you mean redrill the perches to move the axle forward(moving the hole backward)?
