when my timing chain jumped a tooth the carb would bogg down really bad but run well at idle, but it however backfired out of the card and it doesn't sound like yours is doing that. Try a timing light.

i used a timing light but i didn't jump the circut or what ever you are suppose to do so i will try that today. and it was backfiring out the intake.

rednk1980

my guess is when you reset your timing chain you jumped a tooth. at least thats what it sounds like

it wasn't timed right.  once i jumped the circut and got it adjusted to 5 it runs a lot better.  doesn't cut out anymore or backfire.  it still doesn't have that much power but it was like that before i did the timing chain so i am happy right now.  here are some newer picks.  my battery tray i made at work.

here you can see where it lives, not much room to work on it under cover.

here is kent's sami.  it isn't done yet, none of it is welded to the frame yet.

snow run tomarrow, i hope i don't freeze my ass off with no windows!  :)

gotrocks

Have fun.  I know what thats like without windows.  At least you have a heater.  My buggy freezes my ass off so bad when we took it up in the snow.

Ramrod

he doesnt have a heater or anything electrical in that thing right now as far as i know

Hyena

yep, no heater, haven't had one in since i did the motor swap.  it wasn't that cold though.  i was bundled up pretty good in my winter cloths.  Nathan has a couple pics from today since my batteries were dead when we got up there  :(  the truck worked great.  the motor was awesome.  no problems at all.  both Nathan and I got stuck at the same time in about 2 1/2-3 feet of snow.  took a few attempts at digging it out but i finaly got my truck out.  i think nathan had to be towed backwards.  i can't wait for the Highlakes snow run!

Your use of electrical tape is first rate.  Wanna build a truck for me?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I even did a last minute electrical tape mount for the radiator overflow!  :)  of course it is all temperary, i just wanted to test it out a little before hard mounting the intake, it seams to work petty good.

i went up to the snow again today.  lost a couple driveline bolts and my coil cam loose from the head.  took awhile to find out why it just kept sputtering and then dieing.  other then that it did great again.  im gonna finish up some stuff on it tomarrow.  saw Cruzila up there but didn't even realize it was him untill he was driving away and i saw his liscnce plate.  the motor seems pretty strong in first and second gear.  third gear it dogs a bit and i won't even talk about fourth or fifth gear.  i think im gonna order hydrolic assist when i get paid this week.

gotrocks

I understand what you mean about the steering.  When I get back in my toyota after driving my full hydro buggy I hate the toyota steering it in the rocks or just with the tires aired down.

sorry to get off topic but how hard was it to switch over to efi??

Hyena

it wasn't hard but it took a weekend to get it done.  pulling the dash was probably the hardest part since i have an inner cage.  we also had to do some patching of an efi gas tank to it would leak andthat took a couple hours.  but dropping the motor in and putting in the wiring harness wasn't bad.  of course we didn't even take out the old wiring harness since the new one didn't have connections for wipers, heater, ac, or even lights.  so i was running on 2 wiring harness' for awhile.  it was worth it times a billion.

bustatoy

i have the hard parts to the efi but not the harness or computer im thinking about get the wire and computer kit that lc engineering sells but they want $900 for it.
