that exo is BAD! I hope the stinger is at a good angle, we were following Marlin's picture at the top and in his ads. I'll have to get a picture from the angle that his picture is at.

And Gotrocks we'll let you inspect and copy for a small surcharge  :bling:   :hahaha: JK, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I don't know if it's all that big. It might just look big in the pictures. Check out Marlin's pic at the top. It doesn't seem like it's bigger then that.

Well there you go. I guess CT is just used to seeing a smaller stinger :disturbed:

never mind   i guess it flew right over your heads

:therethere: it was very funny, Glen. But all I am saying is it appears the Marlin's and Mark's stingers are about the same size, and now it seems Dan's is too. I may have to measure all their stingers when we get to MCR5 to see who actually has the longest stinger. :yesnod:

once again...nice work, have a q- what angle is your stinger at?
x2

About 45*. That should give the most efective lift per push, but that is my thinking.

Mr. Willy I have been following your build up for a while and I have to say ,you do some great work

I was just wondering where you learned your mad machining skillz ? I'm a machinist also ,so I really apreciate some good machine work. I work in Huntsville, AL and we build wind tunnel models for the aerospace and defense industry. It's really nice to have access to a full blown machine shop when your  hobby is building 4wd's. I hardly ever buy anything. I just wait for someone else to buy something and I'll take it to work and build me one just like it or even better. It's amazing what you can do with CAD design and CNC machines. From what I've seen you do with your manual equipment, I'd love to see what you could do if you had our equipment in your shop.

Anyways, I just wanted to say  to you and it's good to see another sheenist on here. You should come up here to north Alabama and wheel with us some time. We're not that far from Florida and we've got some awesome trails up here. We also ride at Tellico a lot , so if you ever head up that way give me a shout. I'd love to wheel with the infamous Willy Mammoth. Keep up the good work

About 45*. That should give the most efective lift per push, but that is my thinking.

Just as a note we find the most use of our stinger in competition and trail riding is on a big steep drop with an under cut or rocks or some other thing at the bottom. if your stinger is too shallow it will dig first and not allow the front wheels to touch which can flip you forward or the rears will push to one side or another causing a flop to that side ....... You and I know there is no deffinate right or wrong way so build what you feel is best, but we found a singer that matches the approach angle to be of the most use to us maybe slightly more shallow bu a few *. I built an adjustable singer/ tow bar for a guy with a built flatty once, it was on swivels at the bumper with a loop at the front which fit his Pintle on his truck. it worked great and I made the triangulation bars out of Dom which slid very nicely inside each other. with this I was able to make the angle of the bar adjustable and still be able to use it as the tow bar.

Good luck your work is inspiring.

That is a good point and I will check to see what kind of angle I will be able to get before it hist the ground. I don't see me going off any shear drop offs that are going to be more than 3 or 4 feet, but I see your point and would rather not land on my roof.

This drop is about 3 feet on one side and 41/2' on the other. the stinger is just over the hood line and a 78* angle. it is scared and battered from being used. it is not being used here but you can see how close it would be at 45*. Usually it is not the flat landing that kills you it is where tires have dug holes trying to climb where you are going down, or an abrupt uphill rock right on the decent. these will allow the tires to come off the ground as the stinger hits and anything can happen then espcialy if one side is hitting first like it usually is. I can think of 3 times this weekend where we would have been stuck if the stinger was much shallower. Like I said before you know what you want so build that if you think it is right. I have seen yur work and learned alot from you, this is my attempt to share a bit of what I have learned.

good luck let us know if we can help.

WOW, I spent all weekend welding on this EXO and it is officially almost done.

Diane has the job of getting it painted so I can move on to more important stuff like installing the welder and air compressor.

As you can see, he took the advice of others that know better about these things and made the stinger at a steeper angle. I think it looks WAY cooler like that! :woohoo:
