Something to do with no oil at the outer pinnion bearing was causing it to squeak.

See the one roller that has a flat spot?

I see that one and it's kinda flat there.  I've always wondered how they supplied lubrication to the bearing in the up position especially when you lift your rig and have to cant it up even more to get the correct ds angle.  It's bad enough when you have a regular pinion position to keep the bearings lubricated when you tip the 3rd up.

:nope:  The spare is been in it for awhile. Time to rebuild this one and figure out how to get oil to the bearings.   I am working on the details of that while the parts are on order from  :turtle:  of course.

I had to get some other goodies while I was at it.  :shhh:

I'm guessing about 3000 miles. The Rubicon (MCR4) and all the other trail rides. A lot of hwy speeds plus it got water in it twice with syntetic oil.

Looks like the pinnion is ok and all I need to do is put new bearings in it.

Just hope it isn't the engine. :_oops:

I think it will only really come into play under hard acceleration and heavy loading. The gears will keep it from overloading the engine off road.

I think?  :headscratch:

I was concerned about the heat the turbo was going to build around the master, booster and floor.

Now I am concerned about proper pulley size, blower speed and air flow through the engine.

They use this same SC on Honda's to full size V8's so I am guessing I should be able to make it work.

 :dunno:

I called Paxton today and they are of no help.   "We don't have an application for a diesel, sorry"  :psss:

I've seen those metalic blankets over turbos before, maybe you could find one that would fit over your sc to stop the heat transfer, or build a heat shield.

Shouldn't be any heat created by the sc. Turbo's generate heat only because the exhaust is what spins the blades, a sc is belt driven.

Got the new 5.71gears installed today.  :shakehead:

I would not recommend anybody else use 5.71's and defiantly not Precision Gear at all. The work I had to do to get the pattern anywere close was BS.

You should never have to use .218 worth of shims to set any gear and the pattern is spotty, it doesn't use up the whole tooth.  :blah:

This is only the second set I tried, the first I stripped the ring gear bolts out and sent them back.

It is early to tell, but looks like this gear ratio may help as I can now stay at speed in 4th gear and even think about using 5th.
