Thanks, these are some good links. Anybody interested in trying this should check these out. In fact they should be put in a "How To" section in tech tips. Did you see the lath this guy was building?

Pretty cool.

I had an old timer show me how to do this, but haven't had much practice yet. Time to build a big gas furnace. :flamer:

If your interested in home made machines based on Dave Gingerys books, mostly using cast Al

some really interesting stuff in the links.

I'm frustrated at the moment, I'm building my workshop and Appartement into an industriel building, which means no casting, sculpture, machine tool making, and only vital work on my DD 82 pick-up!

When I get a "roundtooit" I will build myself a Cuppola furnace, cast iron and bronze, in large quantities! It's hard to find these "roundtooits" these days!

This is a little  :offtopic: but we worked on the battle cruiser this weekend and cleaned up some  :pokinit: that was laying around in the back yard. I will try to get something done so I can post more pictures soon. I am going to be on call starting Friday so there won't be much getting done for about 2 weeks. :rivers:   :yikes: There is only 4 months left to build and I may not get to the T case and V6 gear set before we have to leave. :tantrum: We still need to get a trailer to put the Willy on.  :ack:

My mom has a wooden"RoundToit" ( it's about the size of a 50ct piece) that she carries in her purse and has for years.

My Pop always said " Don't take something apart to make something else" But did I listen? He kept finding stuff that was missing parts. BTW have you ever seen the inside of those old mechanical adding machines?  :haha:  Don't ask unless you really want to know. :yikes:

Ok back on topic, I finally got motivated to do some work. :flamer:  The steering column was just kinda in there and needed to be made rite so I made a new column to day, hence the little saying. I couldn't find the wright size pipe, but came across one of my porta power extensions that was wright size. I only had to think about it for a second and went to work.

After machining the top to fit inside the steering wheel and the inside to fit the bearing I was on my way to having one less porta power extension and a new column. I made the bottom bigger to put a seal down there to fit over the PTO U joint. This will keep water and mud out of the bearings. You can also see the new Yota peddles.

I worked on the roof panel today. I took the old roof from the buggy and cut it down to fit the Willy. I welded strips on the cage to screw the panel on. I plan to use the old hood and make a roof panel for the back too.

I came up with another way to fix my driveshaft angle without custom building a T case. I am looking at building a custom third housing. :headscratch: This should be a work of art too and will allow me to keep the driveshaft up high to avoid damage. I will post more on this as it progresses, for now it is all in my head. :qtip:

You're a glutton for punishment.  That said, if anyone can do it, its you...  I've never seen anyone pull off as much cool one-off custom stuff before!

and the last time we were out with the Florida sun beating down on us.  :shocking:

I was a little concerned having a roof would detract from the overall feel of it, but I think all in all, between keeping the sun off of us,  :shocking: having a little protection from the weather  :rain: (very little  ), and having a place to put stuff when we're on the trail,  :driving: it will be cool. I know the dogs will prefer to be out of the sun.

And we will have an overhead area for the radio, CB and a storage compartment. I need that for maps. It's all good.    :clap2:
