:flamer: The Mammoth goes under the knife again. It is waiting for a new set of Marlin front springs for the rear. The CJ7 front springs ain't going to cut it. As it turns out I only have to move the rear shackle mount back a couple inches for them to fit, so now I'm  :toiletwait: again.

I set the winch up on the front to see what I need to do to install it. There has been some talk about turbos so here is a pic of the turbo that might make it on the engine.

You just don't quit!  This is an awesome buildup.  On your recent trips out road testing how did those isuzu rear brakes do?  Do they have enough ooomph to stop those huge tires?

By the way, get that turbo done!

They seem to at this point. I have the proportioning valve open all the way and they don't want to lockup. I want to put the booster on so I don't have to push so hard to stop. Oyea, I think the power steering needs to be hooked up too. Time to dry dock it for a while and get the rest of the stuff done.

I pulled the springs out of the front and put the leaves back in. I put them in the rear so now I need to move the sackles back. This thing is going to scrape the header beam going in and out of the garage. I should get the new front springs next week and be able to get it back on the wheels. There is a lot of things that need to be done to get it ready for Memorial Day weekend. Haven't decided where to go yet, but we gota go somewhere.

Well, I don't have a caliper to measure the stock axle diameter, so I did the next best thing.  Got the parts dept. where I work to get me a isuzu rotor so I could test it on a stock axle then return it if needed.

An unmodified isuzu rotor does not fit on an unmodified toyota axle.  The flange diameter is too big, as well as the center ring diameter.  Bummer

The stud holes need to be drilled a bit and the center could have a ring made, but I don't have a problem with them centering. If you can find a larger diameter rotorthat will fit the caliper bracket could be made to move the caliper to the proper location. You can also grind the axle down a bit so the rotor will fit. It seems to work real good, I just can't push hard enough on the peddle to get them to lock up without power brakes.

Doesn't the 4 runners or land cruisers have disks?

I meant the axle diameter and ring are too big.  I couldn't even get to the part to see if the stud holes were too small.  I do by the way, have my doubts about them getting me the right rotor, but it does look just like yours.  This one just seems to me to be puny in size, as compared to the stock drum.

I have been eyeballing mitsubishi montero sport rear discs, but they have a tall hat due to the drum parking brake.  It would probably push the caliper to far back, or not fit inside a 15" wheel

I spent time today finishing off cutting up the buggy. I borrowed the winch plate and bumper to make the winch mount for the Willy. That's all welded in and painted now.

I'm going to attempt to paint my rig in a couple of weeks. I will be using the documented guide you gave me. Thanks for all the tips. Hopefully my rig looks almost as good as yours.  :beerchug:

Hey Mr. W, what pump would you use?  The reason I ask is because I have a mile marker installed on my 86 4 runner.  It does OK in low but not in high (under load).  I believe my p/s pump buts out 950 psi at idle but the winch actually requires 1500.  Any suggestions would be very helpful.  Thank you

You could put a larger spring in your pump regulator or use a GM pump, somthing from a hydra boost truck or somthing. Use a transmision cooler on the return to help keep the fluid cool.

Got the springs in today and got the springs in today. :gap:  It looks like this thing is 2" taller than it was before, but will just fit in the garage.

I'm going to need taller shocks too. I only have 1 1/4" extension left on the front an none on the rear.

what's the extra height do to your driveshaft angles?  I know they were problematic...

Don't help that's for sure. The front is no problem, but the rear, well that is a problem. It is ok so long as the whole rear doesn't extend at the same time. I have plans to customize a transfercase with a lower output to fix this problem and then put in a V6 third to fix the weak high pinion problem. All in time, but first I have to find the parts.
