Oh!  :smack: Were you waiting for me??   :disturbed:

We went out for the cruz!  :driving: What a great time. :cheer:

Unbeknowst to me Mark had planned on cruising up to a Sonic Drive-In restaurant. (he's likes to take me on surprise cruz's. always fun)

It's probably 10 miles from us, that way we get a nice cruise and don't have to leave the Mammoth to get something to eat. Well, unbeknowst to Mark, it just happened to be The night the Orlando Jeep Club meets at Sonic! He knew of the meetings, but thought it was Friday.

I was a tad apprehensive  :nerv: about going in, but also wanted to see what they had to say. No one had a bad word to say, at least not in front of us,  :psss: haha. If nothing else, whether or not they approve of what MrW has put into it, I have no doubt they are impressed by all he has done with it. :flamer:

Everyone was really nice, and encouraged us to check out their website for local rides. And one of the guys I was talking to wanted to know if we would be at the Willys reunion on Sat., which we will. It was a really good time and GREAT to be able to get out and about.  :beerchug:

I'll let MrW tell you about his ride earlier in the day before I got home from work.
But of course :worthless: so without further ado:

That's one thing you can say about a Jeep, it comes with it's own table!

We even found us a short dirt road to check out on the way home.  :driving:

anyway...ME TOO!!   I can't wait to drive it myself, but I do love being a passenger. It looks SO SICK coming down the road.

Thanks Gonzo! MrW is the one to  I just tag along for the ride! :whip:  And a wild ride it is!!  :disturbed:

When we got home our neighbor Scott came running out of the house. He heard neighbor Jerry (the one in the video) got a ride earlier in the day and wanted a ride too! His wife suggested we needed to start charging for rides! :bling:

:rofl2: I love that they love it too. We've got to get the back seat padded so we can take them with us in the near future.

:smack: What would a custom build up like this be without any failures? So after getting the fuel cap to keep the fuel in the tank and finishing the throttle cable so it don't keep pulling through the firewall we found we were leaking some black goo from the clutch boot. I thought it was comming from the rear engine seal, but found it was comming from the transmision. I dropped the trans and pulled the front cover off to find the front seal was hard as a rock. In fact it broke when I tried to pry it out. I only hope I can get this seal tomorrow so we can make the Willy's reunion on Saturday.

Does anybody know the toy part # for the front input seal for the G54 trans?

I also need to get some grease in the rear CV so it will stop squeaking.

I just installed one of those front seals on Saturday...but I'll be damned if I can find the part number.  Its a standard type of rubber seal, so if your local Dealerships don't have one, NAPA might.  Take the old one down and see if they can match it up.  (that method only works if the dude behind the counter is willing to do a little investigation for you...)

The Jeep looks GREAT!  I'm all inspired now- I've found complete, rust-free '55 Willys here in NM.  It needs an engine rebuild or maybe a 22R swap...

I may be looking into a TD27 swap. The SD22 is just a little lacking in HP to push fifth gear and the turbo would just be too cool.

Thanks guys, it's almost time to start a new thread now that this build up is almost done.

Ok, the trans is back in with the new seal  :crossed: we will know Saturday if it is still leaking.

The Timken PN for this seal is 1981, It only cost $6.00. It only took about 3 hrs total time to drop the trans, change the seal and reinstall the trans. I used the comealong to raise it into place, that worked realy nice. Hope I never have to do that on the trail, but glad to know it works.

Nah, you gotto take all the bolts and nuts off first, then slide it a little back, then it falls right out.  :)

Willy Mammoth

I know all about them falling out, I almost lost a finger cause of that.
