last time I was up there was oct. 14, 2007.  stopped at stair steps about a half hour before I had my big wreck on my bike that almost killed me.
did either you or sean drive up stair steps?  i've always wanted to try it, but everytime i see the cliff on both sides i change my mind  :disturbed:

oh yeah broke the welds on my assist again  :hammerhead: . ive come to the conclusion its the cheap TG steal on the tie rods, i welded almost half of the nut to the link and still broke.

superyota

 :therethere:
i saw the welds on there last time i was at your house.  not sure who's welding it, but the heat needs to be cranked up.  if i was there i would do it for you.  also, make sure you are binding them the right direction.  i'll call you at lunch time and explain .

there binded good, and i rewelded befor calico and they held up tell now, do you bind the ram itself or just the tierod?

superyota

you need to bind the tie rods, and the himes on the ram.  when you steer back and forth, you can see the direction the ram wants to twist.  make sure the ends get bound up in the direction of the twist(i hope that makes sense).  i've got small tack welds on mine and they have held up the past 3 years now.  i think your not binding them up the in the right direction.  look at seans and see how he has it done.  i'll be in town next weekend.  if you don't have it done by then i'll give you a hand.

So yesterday my motor took a crap, I think my timeing chain sprocket came loose from cam. The crank turns but it spears the cam isn't.  And feels like no compression.  The motor has maybe 300it miles on it since rebuild.  Maybe my friend didn't lock tite sprocket,  or do you think my chain broke? I don't hear a chain rattling,  and the crank turns with ease.  Any thoughts?

So I was planning on takeing time on presidents day to pull my valve cover and checking out what's up with me chain, but my nabors that works at a salvage yard apparently got me a 22ret motor complete without harness. Hopefully he's not BSin me. Ill find out Tuesday when I go to their yard

SloCrawler

So I pulled my valve cover and this is what I found, broken chain in 2 spots, broke the arm off my mechanical fuel pump and the disc that pumps it. I also notice that the setting link are on the back side. This motor only has maybe a 100 miles on it. What you guys think would have caused this to happen, bad tensioner, timing chain backwards?

:yikes: THAT SUCKS... seized link? broken guides?

SloCrawler

Any recommendations on who to order timing chain kit from, not going to go with Napa this time.

Thomas P

Was the manual fuel pump spacer installed? I bought a truck from a guy who broke a brand new timing chain on a stage 2 motor, the only thing i could figure was that because that spacer was missing the arm on the pump was putting too much pressure on things and boom.... Just a hunch though...
