So i took it out wheelin on saturday and it did great except for the fact that my MC 4.7 gears broke!!  idk how they even broke. i was climbing a rock that was only about 2 ft in diameter and maybe 2 ft tall and the transfer case went " clunk! clunk!"  so i towed it home and pulled the case out with the help of a couple friends ...... this is what i found

Yeah it really sucks because our clubs annual event is july 13th and i dont have the money to fix it.  idk who set them up, they were in the case when i got it from the previous owner.  i dont think it was an issue with setup at all.  looks like the teeth just gave up.  Im gonna call and talk to MC, but idk if they can do anything for me

i may be thinking of another part of the mc 4.7 gears, but i believe the older generation of mc 4.7s had less surface area on the teeth..i think where you had the issue. i cant tell my looking at it how old it is though. i know all the new ones have a lot more gear surface area because people kept having that issue, they basically made that little gear section longer. im pretty sure people havent had any issue with the new heavy duty mc 4.7s. they also make the chromo ones know. would be cool but kinda overkill and pricey.

I talked to MC and they might warranty them.  i have to send them in so they can check em out.  but since they are on backorder for 6 weeks i obviously wont be getting a replacement set before our event next month..... so i tracked down a set of stock ratio 23 spline gears that i am going to put in it for now just so i can use it.  i will still have dual cases, just no 4.7 gears

uh i havnt measured a stock 4runner lately but i think im sitting about 24" to the frame right now.  not sure how much taller that is than stock

nope didnt get any videos. 

the runner should be driveable by tomorrow night.  I found out a  guy i know had a complete 23 spline case with marlin 4.7 gears in it just laying in his garage.  he said i can use it and replace it later with mine when i get my gears warrantied!  so Tim and I got it almost completely back together tonight, i will finish it up tomorrow

Oh i dont think he was bein a jerk really!!  Just the way he is... he was just letting you know flat out! He just sayin he heard ya the first time and will post up when he gets time! Hes a busy man and im sure he would like to hear your commets on his rig as well as others.. plus he was down for sure cause of his 4.7s so he was prob a little stressed!! Its all good man trust me, but give him time to wheel at least to even get a vid of it, unless ya want like one of it pulling out of the garage an up onto the trailer!!
