I'm in your corner Brandon, I do feel we may be in for some trouble and even the dems. will regret this but we will see, hopefully he will be a great president.

I am not so sure a great president is really the presidents doing, this one got stuck with some crap but I won't even blame it on the last one, just the card he was dealt. As a result unless there is some miracle it could have been Jesus and he wouldn't have been able to do magic..

It will be interesting to see what the NEXT election brings..

A good or great president has nothing to do with what happens while he is in office, it is what he does with the cards he is dealt. Also it has everything with the people he surrounds himself with referring to his staff. Sure the other arms of the system can hamper him just like what did happen to Bush in regards to the housing crisis and I hate to say it that was all politics. The dems. saw an opportunity to strike a blow to the republicans and took their shot at our expense. That will be exposed I'm sure once all the smoke clears and people realize that he tried and tried to get the house to make a move and they wouldn't. This was even before the colapse, he saw it coming and warned them and they did nothing.

Now we have to deal with the cards dealt to us, we need to keep an eye on the cards remaining in the deck so we don't get cheated by a slick-handed dealer.

I don't think anyone is looking at our past pres.. but hey - did anyone catch is last ditch efforts? One was opening mountain bikes to our public parks (at least giving them the options to allow). As a mtb'er that rocks :)

all I can say is IF there are issues it is because all the hard headed people won't back the president regardless of who that is. I thought he did a good speech about us all being united as one - but I have never seen so many people divided as from this election. Hopefully that changes..

I can understand not agreeing with something that happens down the road but nothing has happened yet so stick together and support the 44th pres..

ignorance will rise again... it never fails. ive seen so many friggin racial slurs and people protesting with signs saying "ni##er please, its a white house." on the street corners. i really wanted to go be more ignorant than him and take his sign and rip it up. on my way back through i saw him being arrested by a white cop! i figure the ignorance will eventually thin out but never disappear...

:dunno: I'm not happy about it, but it happened.  I'm going to keep doing what I normally do, stay involved and in the loop of what the government is doing, and pray that I was wrong about Obama.  In the meantime I'm going to enjoy the things that I do, because I still fear that those rights and priviledges I enjoy (wheeling, access to firearms, etc.) will be going by the wayside in the next few years.  I would much rather Barack prove me wrong than prove me right.

Just the opposite, anyone in this circle that voted for Obama surely didn't do it as a sheeple..

Blacks (some) etc I could see..

This was a big change, the biggest this country has EVER seen I would wager. Time will tell if it is a good or bad thing, many argue he doesn't do anything so there will be no change others say he is all about change. To me (like I said above) the interesting thing will be what happens in 4 years..

I agree to a point.  As United States citizen's we'll look stupid to the rest of the world if nearly half the country (the number I last saw was 48% to 52%) is actively against the new president, but there is nothing patriotic about actively supporting something, or someone, that we don't agree with.  This is exactly the opposite of what we're about.  The key is to find balance and instead of fighting against him being president, something that isn't going to change, instead working to be apart of where the country goes from here.  Become involved in the things that you're worried he's going to ruin.

No one person, even the president, can mess things up without a lot of help.  It's a collective group that will be responsible for things good or bad.

The ironic thing is that the majority of people don't know enough about what's going on to really know who, or what group, is actually responsible.  I don't claim to be an expert, but it is my understanding that the mortgage laws were changed during Clinton's era that are the root cause of the financial crisis in the mortgage industry.  Who gets blamed?  The current administration.  Is it fair?  This is just one example where it's difficult, maybe impossible, to know where the responsibility is.

My personal opinion is that either party would create a disaster if they had the majority all the time.  I'm not an Obama fan, but I like the idea of having a period of balance.

:psss: I told my sister, who's an Obama supporter and sent pictures of a sticker on her pregnant belly, that ALL babies were democrats because they redistributed their parents wealth, sometimes to the point of poverty.

obama won with 338 electorial votes over mccain's 160 I would say that was easily the majority!  but i also agree with alot of what you just said blackdiamond.... I think it will be a good thing to have a young democrat in office that really has some good ideas.... I watched every debate and followed this election pretty close and I think things will be fine and eventually with a lot of work from more than just the president this country can make a comeback....only time will tell though

Have you ever heard that figures don't lie, but liars figure?

The Electoral College is, I believe, a group of voters that are to represent the voters in their state and not every state has an equal number of Electoral College votes.  California, for example, would have more than Vermont for obvious reasons, but the relationship between the Electoral College and the Popular Vote is not linear.  In this case the numbers I saw this morning for the popular vote, which is the figure that counts the common mans vote, was like 48% to 52%.

If memory serves correctly, one of the past elections had some controversy because the Electoral College went against the overall popular vote?  I don't think they have ever gone against their states popular vote, but the Electoral College isn't necessarily a perfect representation of the common mans vote.

:psss: The Republicans in WA might just consider this Round 1 since we like to recount in these parts until we get the answer someone wanted.

For the record, I would probably consider myself more in agreement with the Republicans overall, but consider that the vote is basically to determine who the biggest liar is.  The higher you get in politics, the lower I expect your morals to be.

Brandon

My gawd peepole give it up..

Joke below:

Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at the way you've treated California and we've decided we're leaving.

We intend to form our own country and we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware that includes Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly:

You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.

We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.
You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states
pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro choice and anti war and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home.

We wish you success in Iraq and hope that the WMDs turn up but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation's fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven

Sister schools plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush

Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61% of you crazy b*stds believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

We're taking the good pot too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.

Sincerely,
Author Unknown in New California.
