so i was driving this turdbox tonight and i didnt have any tail lights or dash lights, checked the fuses and the dimmer switch, all hooked up and good, took dimmer switch off and jumped the terminals, still nothing. i know the dash lights worked before, not so sure about the tail lights. any ideas?

Typically dash lights won't work until the taillights are working. Fix the taillight problem and you will or should have dash lights again. No blown fuse for the taillights?

on or off still no juice. my high beams also dont work. of course they never have and the dash lights did. maybe the dimmer switch is bad?

Dimmer switch is a possibility. Check to see if you have power to the headlight switch first. then go from there.

brockbuilt85

the low beams turn on, and when i switch to high beams the indicator on the dash comes on but no  high beams. ill check to see if i have power at the dimmer, but i would think the dimmer would be after the fuse block on the circuit, and if i have no power at the fuse block, then its some where before that?

The Headlight circuit doesn't typically go through the interior Fuse Block. I would check the high beam circuit at the dimmer. As for Dash and Taillights, those start at the switch then to the Taillights Fuse and from the load side of the Taillights fuse to the Dash lights Fuse. Be sure that you also don't have a bad relay in the under hood fuse block. That's also where you may have one of those large fuses that could be blown. All good stuff to check.

brockbuilt85

thank you sir, i will check all this next time i get the chance!

Man, I wish we lived closer by each other so we could just fix all your wiring issues. Maybe if you don't get this all squared away soon we can hook up on an outing and get this all figured out.

dude, that would be fantastic. im sure it has something to do with the fact that most of the wiring is all meth rigged together, im fixing it as i go (im even doing it right and sodering with shrink wrap now :gap: ) but i feel like im polishing a turd hahaha. right now my focus has switched to fixing my motor mount, i can still wheel during the day haha.

Better check your meter, Dude! You only have a 12v battery in that thing.

Are you sure that reading you got wasn't 2.4v and 3.2v? :headscratch: if so, then you don't really have juice back there. It isn't possible to read higher voltage than your system voltage (12v). Just saying.

brockbuilt85

no i had it on the wrong setting, mv i think. i dont remember now. when switch was off, nothing and when switch was on i got something. doesnt that account for something ??? lol

In either case, the lights don't work. So if it's not 12v+ then you still have a problem.  :slap:

brockbuilt85

would that indicate the switch is good? or does it mean i still got nothin? im tempted to rip it all out! well, maybe i should just get a tow rig and trailer and green sticker that turd box haha
