Thats because it IS oval!
I also used it for my B-hoop...I kinda like it.  The yard had lots of it, some job site had a bunch leftover or something.

So I got the other side of the bumper welded up and clamped it on to the mounts.  I stood back, looked at it for a while, and said to myself, "Self, that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen.  I demand that I cut it off immediately."  I argued with myself a bit, countering that perhaps a few adjustments here and there would help...but finally I won myself over and cut it apart.  I left just the center section to weld some rings onto so I have a tow point for MCR.  I will just have to design something I like better later.

I was hoping that the seats would be a pretty easy bolt-in, but of course they aren't even close.
I have two gripes about the cheap seats so far.  First: one of the rails the sliders mount to was warped from welding it to the seat frame.  It isn't much and all it really does is add a little resistance when using the slider.  Second:  The lever to unlock the sliders is kinda hokey and sized incorrectly.  It does still function perfectly and should not be a problem.
Together these issues are not enough to stale the fact that these seats were $300 shipped to my door, sliders included.

The only other issue was figuring out which side is up...but I only had to reverse them twice to figure out I had it correct the first time and should have stopped while I was ahead.

Holy crap!!  Is that the lever to move the seat?  Or the OH :pokinit: handle when you're going over and need to preform the "airplane crash safety manuever?"

Since the sliders are flat on the bottom they weren't gonna fit anywhere close and I wanted to figure out the easiest way to build a frame without needing to measure anything cause I am ghetto like that.
My first step was to hack off the four tabs from the stock seat...I AM THE BUTCHER OF SEVILLE!!!!!!

Then I installed the tabs back into the truck where the belonged and used some small square tube to build what some might refer to as a "frame".  Then I gave up for the night cause I need more tube and hardware.

Cut a V out of the ends and smash it down to a O and then use pipe to make the sides. That will give it some style and look better from the side.

The oval tube is awesome stuff...nice and strong, but looks nicer, I think, than rectangle.

Fattazz, I wish the seats were in decent shape for ya, but that is why I am replacing them.  The springs are shot and the padding is worn out.  Dr side is worst, pretty much sink your butt to the floor.  Too bad cause is good shape the sr5 seats are pretty comfy.  Plus I just destroyed the bottoms of them.  Pass seat is already headed for the dump as we speak.

I think part of my problem is the rear frame condition.  I will probably make a bigger project outta the rear and cut the frame off and replace the area where the bumper will mount to to get it right.

K...finishing the seat mount...
Drilled some holes and cut some tabs and mounted the tabs to the underside of the sliders.
Then placed the "frame" on top of the tabs and CAREFULLY tacked them into place.  Trying really hard not to set new seats on fire.

Then pull the whole thing off the seat, weld it all up, and install.
I was pretty happy, everything bolted right back together as it should and it slided without any problem.  The seats plus the frames leave you sitting up a little higher in the cab...bout 2 inches maybe.  My head still has a good 3 inches or more of clearance to the roof.  I kinda like it, you can see really well out the windshield and over the door sills.  The stock worn seats had me sitting way to low I thought.

I went back a couple pages and didn't see anything, but are you gonna run harnesses?

CTENG in KS

Yes going to run harnesses, but I prob won't get to them before MCR and I have no clue as to how I will mount them yet.

We are indeed taking 40 over!  any chance it is on a rim?  How much you want for it?  I could prob use one of my rims to mock up the carrier and just bolt it on if we can meet up with you.

I will be traveling in the Mammoth caravan.  I am riding alone in the beastmaster towing my 4runner on the trailer I bought yesterday.  The Mammoths will be of course in the LBC towing that yellow thing that isn't really a toyota, but sorta kinda is a toyota too.  We are meeting in OK City and heading your way down I40.

I don't know how sleeping arrangements would work but you could come along with me if you wanted to pitch in for gas.  The 460 drinks it like water on hot day.  I still have the seats and belts in the back of the 4Runner, just need enough tents for all and you would have to get all the paperwork in order.  The Beast has a large backseat so there is plenty of room to stretch out on the ride to Cali.

uuummm, need spare tire and maybe it would be good to have a spare birf.

What went bad?  Perhaps good planning will help keep the risks down.  Plus we will have the Mammoths along as well.

no i planned everything out good and it was almost a major problem. last friday we were leaving monterey bay which is south of san fran about 1hour in my 02 subaru wrx and it felt like my clutch was gone and we had just enough money to get home and we took it to the closest dealership and they came to the same conlusion i did and said it was the clutch. they said it would be $980.00 and they couldent get to it till monday the day i was supposed to be back at work. luckly enough the wifes uncle that lives in north L.A. said that we could barrow his truck and trailer. so we left the dealer ship and feathered the throtle out of town not expecting to get far when i realised that the speedo was moving when it was sliping. so i knew it wasent the clutch and kept heading towards L.A. to intersect the uncle. it ended up being a rear axleshaft that popped out of the diff just far enough to not engage. dont know how i did it but the dealer ship in town wanted to accuse me of jumping the :pokinit: out of my car.
