I have aquired a new battery...
I did some looking around and initially I wanted an Optima dry cell, but werd on the street is that in the last 2-3 years the quality has really slipped.  Then over on Pirate there were good things said about the Exide Orbitals which are the fiber impregnated type, no spill batteries.  On their website it says that Walmart and Tractor Supply as well as Napa carry them, but when you go to Tractor Supply and Walmart they don't have Exide batteries.  So I did some reading at Walmart that they have for selecting a battery and sure enough, the EverStart Walmart brand is made by Exide and the Maxx series is a fiber impregnated battery.
I used my best deductive skills and decided chances were good that they are one and the same so approx $70 later I had the biggest battery walmart carries.
I will put it in tomorrow, gonna be warmer outside!

Got ta new oil pump to deal with the oil pressure issue...don't really see too much wear on the old one compared to the new one...

Then I pulled that large bolt for the pressure valve and all that came out was a spring...are there more parts that are missing or stuck in there?  I didn't study it too close, but I fail to see how a spring by itself werks like a valve.

I don't remember if there's supposed to be a ball or not.  But didn't your new pump come complete?  New spring and all, ready to bolt on?

CTENG in KS

Yup, it came all set to bolt on, but I want to know haw it werks and I am NOT breaking the new pump open...might screw something up!

Hey, kinda old topic, but your welding, got some idea's to help you. Your lens in your hood, clean it, make sure you get all the dust and welding sut off it. (say if your welding with a 10-shade, with a dirty lens its like welding with a 12 shade, and how can you weld when you can't see, right. and if you still have a problem with staying straight. go to a #8 shade lens, You will not believe how much your welds improve you can actually see what your welding. and I think a lens is like only 5$.
For the beads it's self, try slowing down and get a study pace when you weld. (the #8 shade lens will make this alot easier)anyone and everyone that welds will say the samething. When you weld like say a butt weld, you get loss on where the to peices join, then you start thinking on where it is and stop thinink about your weld it self, then your welds go to
:pokinit:, again with the #8 shade lens you don't have to worry about where your bead is going, so you can pay attention to the bead itself. just an idea to help you.
I remeber those days, if i only knew to change to an #8 shade back then, it would of been alot easier to pickup.

My helmet is adjustable...I think one of my biggest problems is actually POOR lighting in my garage.  I usually work in the evenings after I get home from work.  All I have is a single lightbulb overhead, and a flourescent droplight.  Half the time I don't have enough light to see the parts well without any helmet on, never mind when I'm welding.

SHE RUNS!  No more bad chain noises or nothing!  Soooo...how do you go about hooking up a timing light?  What is the best method for getting the timing right on these things?

Here is the proof:
A little movie so you can here her run.  As a reminder she has what I think is a Hooker header that I modified, no cat, and a Walker turbo muffler. (I have been told it is the same as a Dynomax...Walker is parent company?) 2.50' pipe.

Hope this works...oops I suck at the intarweb!

Ahh ferget it...just go here:

Yeah, Walker owns DynoMax, that is correct.  DynoMax is just a brand name they use.

NOw that its runnin, lets get a Sunday date set up to go wheelin here locally.  Its not like hours of wheelin but its a lot of fun and only 20 minutes down the road.  It will put your rig through the paces though, and thats what you need to know your rig is gonna do its job when you go somewhere like Disney.

If you have seen this thread then you have seen my new toy:
http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=31345.0

Looks like the bumpstops are going to line up fine, though they still need some gussetting.  Also it appears that the back end is flexing much faster than the front.  The sway bar is working a little too well so I may need to come up with a solution for disconnecting it.  On a better note, the shortened bar took plenty of twist and held up just fine.

I needed a place to work without bending down so much for my back so I got one of these mini workmate things.  Works like a clamp/vise type deal too.  I like it.  Plus for compound shapes my nice new and on-sale Hitachi jigsaw.  I also like it.
