he is the one that broke a rear axle at the round-up on the wall saturday night.  he was in another truck though.

yeah, thats my buddy cyle. I met him and his family last year in portola, and then we did the mcr6 run, moonrocks and fordyce with them.
Theyre all originally from calpine, but hes down here doing the welding course at Butte college.
He said he knew you from the welding course too..

Heres the gray 3rd gen they broke the axle in..

its not gonna be long till snow comes i wouldn't be surprised if there will be some when we go next. ehh its been nothing spcial here since chris works a lot and has been hunting on the weekends and aj an i go to school 6 days a week so i havent been doing much couse i try and relax on sundays.  how about o-gay anything crazy goin on

-Matt-

well i tore my axle down today to that i can take my steering arms in tomorrow to get machined. im pretty stoked on it but im SOO sick of doing axle work. i never wanna see the insides of an axle again. i have a few more pics of the difference in the original parts and the new 25mm bearing kit. as you can see its pretty beefy. sorry for the poor cell phone pics but its all i have. i also threw in some pics of my new front hanger i made and my new pack of hybrid springs. i have been looking into durrango springs for a while and decided to take advantage of pick and pull while they were having a 50% off sale. they ended up working way better than i ever expected. they have the perfect amount of arch and stiffness. i used the main leaf from stock toy rears just so it would be the correct length and i wanted the offset centering hole. i used all the springs from the durrango pack except the top. all together its a 5 leaf pack. the cool thing it that the durrango springs have nice plastic bushings so they don't make noise. another plus is that the springs taper perfectly so that there no spot that it under more load. i think they are tapered about every 5ish inches, and the last durrango leaf that rides under the toy leaf ends perfectly at the front and back end of the toy leaf for good support. they have tons of flex and performed extremely well at the mcr. i haven't flexed them out to their full potential for i need longer shocks now. but if anyone's thinking about some new springs up from i HIGHLY recommend them . unforrrtunatelyy i dont have any good flex pics yet but next trip ill get some.

Sounds like you got a nice find on those springs.  How much lift do you think you have in the front now with your current setup?

its equivalent to a marlin 4 inch from spring pack, and has enough softness for good flex yet stiff enough for a non sloppy ride.

no, i would have done it myself if i had the marlin or all pro steering since they already have the larger diameter stud portion that goes into the steering arm (meaning its already the correct size for the new piece) but since i bought the generic trailgear version not only did i have to press them out but i had to get them reamed to a 1inch diameter hole. the only place in Chico that i could find that has the equipment was Thomas welding and hydrolic. they did a great job and had it all done in a day for like 40$. from what people were saying is i guess it takes a pretty big drill to do something that large and for that grade of steel. so in other terms if you want to upgrade to this when it comes out and you have a marlin or i thinkkkk even allpro high steer it will be a piece of cake, if not then its still not a big deal but you have to pay someone to convert it.
