so you would pick that over a dynotrac? and if so why?

Doof

that is a MONSTER housing

you wouldnt be able to dent that even if you tried to drive off a cliff and land nose first in the box

Sluice Box Hero

no no no, i thought that guy was asking what it takes to build a 609, and i dont think there is an axle i would pick over a dynatrac D70 front D80 rear.  they are freakin' sick

nay countrymen

if you were to run a 70 front and 80 rear, wouldnt you need to run at least 42's so you wouldnt be dragging a dif everywhere?

because arent the 70&80 3rds a big son of a gun

THK Matt

HOLY :pokinit: a Dana 80 Rear is HUGE!

oh man those are sexy axles :gap:

so callen correct me if im wrong but im only seing dynotrac for like 4-5K for a built rear axle and like 6-7K for a built front axle?. is that really how much those damn things go for

Doof

-Matt-

heres a really good link that talks about the dynatrac axles for people like me who dont know much about them http://www.offroaders.com/directory/products/Dynatrac-Axles.htm

Sluice Box Hero

they are $$$$$ full custom all new parts plus labor.....ya, they are that much for sure.

wow thats almost makes me :pokinit: my pants even thinking about dropping over 10K into just axles.

Sluice Box Hero

well. . . . what other axles have you thought about besides the toy axle?  are you looking for width? strength? clearance?  remember, more often than not you sacrfice clearance for strength.

dont get me wrong, i like the 609 for sure.  but i see 3 problems.  super stupid low pinion (lowest pinion of any axle) some 3rd castings are complete :pokinit: (have to make sure you have either an aftermarket casting, or certian 'stong' castings) and the stock housing is too thin.

now,

if you really want 3rd member beef how about a Diamond with the Tundra 10.5", ARB (in R&D), Custom 36spl, 1.457" axles with CTMs, and D60 knuckles and outters with 35spl stubs.  now. . .that i think i would run.

i cant find anything on diamonds site that says anything about a tundra center...?

Sluice Box Hero

Diamond will make anything you want for the right price. . .

as for the roc joc center, ya, Matt at ECD had a set going in they buggy, they were cool, and im sure they are as good as dynatrac.

Sluice Box Hero

im pretty happy with my nearly stock D60.  someday ill gear it, put in an ARB, and run Birfs and be bulletproof for pretty cheap considering.

i think the toy center with 60 outters would be tits

cry the r&p and you would be able to hammer down fairly well

check this treatment out.... supposed to better then cryo

Sluice Box Hero

look at pat.

what does he break now?  R&Ps.  they just arent strong enough.  the birf really isnt the weak link anymore, its the R&P, and hsi were cryo'd

thats a pretty cool technique. im m opinion though go big enough to where you don't have to treat it in the first place, and wont ever have to touch the damn thing. those rock jock axles are pretty sick i was 'building one' online and fully built with good :pokinit: came out to be a little under 10K for front and rear.

plus his trucks isnt that big/powerful get a loaded up runner with a 3.4 in it and then id be worried about breaking pats r&p all the time

whats causing him to break R&P so much? to much power to the skinny pedel or just the axles are stonger then the treated R&P and thats the weak spot since the axles are stringer??

yea i checked that out also... theres a lot of options right there for those axles

-Matt-

o another question for callen since im sure he sees a decent amount of this stuff... say you were to fully build a bad ass diamond-rock joc-dynatrac-etc... would it hold its value. couse thats one thing that pisses me off about my runner is even though im not gonna sell it, it would be reassuring to have parts in there that will hold their value/make the rig worth something in the books. thats what i love about tacos is they are actually worth the value of what you put into them unlike my rig.

edit..in other words i wouldn't mind payin some cash for some axles later down the road if i went with something different of just got sick of them i could sell them for a decent amount still.

kiyul4130

usually fully built 1 ton, mogs, rockwells hold there value pretty good is because of one main reason. if your trying to sell fully built 1/2 and 3/4 ton axles, your asking price is going to be high. someone can easily pay the same amount for a stock or moderately built 1 ton and up set or front axle. so ya something like that would hold its value pretty well i would think.
-kiyul-
92 1 ton ex cab, marlin dual ultimates, 42 iroks, hydro assist, flat bellied, linked and more...
ECV 7-11

KYOTA FOREVER

-Matt-

ya thats what i would assume but i wasnt quiet sure since its weird to me that you can put 1000's of dollars into a truck thats got duals lockers and all that good stuff and then be able to only sell it for only like 5K. if i were ever to get rid of my truck and never wheel again (which would happen) i think id rather part Everything out, id be a bit more work but i think you could get a decent amount of the value back.
