Those flames are cheezy! If you want real good ones I can do that I took art classes in high school & college. The other day I got to thinking about the diff. jobs Ive had. A thought occured to me that I have never had a job that didnt involve vehicles! Ive detailed, painted, bodywork, stereo installation, built lots of hotrods, sold parts, etc. Anyway enough threadjacking.
Heres the tubbing.

Good news the bumper didnt even fall apart on the way to the shop today either!
I know the pink is ugly but at least it shows up! This is basically what the bumper is gonna be like when its done.

I finally got off my fat A$$ & did some work to the suspension. I moved the axle forward 3 3/16". Using rears off of a 81 2 wheel drive and drilling the perches 1 2/16 back. For shocks I used some Skyjacker Nitros for a 5" lifted yota. I need longer shox! I can compress one while the other is fully extended. I guess I need to build the hoops huh?

The shacklesare 6 7/8" center to center. Yes I need to build my driveline, Heck I got a whale of a lot of work left to do! I still havent done anything to the rear. I need to find a different tank, Im thinking celica? I need the room where the tank is now so I can inboard the rears, but I wanna keep the gas gauge functional (considering the 84 has never had a gauge that worked) I kind of like knowing whats left in there lol. I gotta repaint the truck when I get the rest of the suspension and tubes installed. The gun i sprayed it with had a small orifice so I had to thin it way down to shoot it. I didnt even use a whole quart to waint the whole thing! Can you say thin paint?

I think I must have gotten a virus or something cause I actually did something sorta major 3 days in a row! Usually I will dive in with both feet and not leave till its done or it will take me forever to be done with a project. Today I trimmed the snot out of my fenders and bumper corners. I also put a set of 35" bfgarbage mt's on the truck. Put an ad-a-leaf in the rear so its level. But the biggest thing was I built the front driveline! Finally its a real 4x!! Not a pre runner LOL ! Ill post pics tomorrow Im to tired to take any now, 3 days crawling on my concrete floor aind good for fat knees!
Kyota thanx for the tip. But Im building this on basically pocket change. My whole mission is to see just how cheaply this can be built. So far Im still at the $640 mark, I am trying not to go over the magic $1300 mark. I figure a grand is more than enough $$ to make something competitive at Calrocs. (hopfully i dont prove myself wrong)

I got a little lazy on my need for crossover. Instead of doing it right now I just shortened the draglink. Suprisingly enough it doesnt drive bad at all it actually drives better now than it did before. I think the biggest reason is now Im running radials that arent square or crowned (damned ford TTB) I think the biggest suprise is on the freeway. Even tho I now have a 3 speed with OD lol it isnt all that bad at speed.

Thanx for the kind words guys. Brainless Im not sure if that statement will still hold true after June 18th.
I plan on driving like I usually do.....with reckless abandon! Ive got a feeling its gonna get rolled. Last year I watched a kid roll his daddys new rubicon 2 1/2 times. That was great. Even better was the look on his face when he got it back over and looked at it!

I scraped the evil black tar off of my floor. That stuff sux! The driver side came off in chunks, the pass side was straight tar. I weighed the truck a few times this week. The first time it was 3100, full tank, the next was 3020, on that one I had taken some parts off, like the spare tire bars, misc brackets here and there. Today was with a full tank it weighed 2940, not bad!! That was with no black goo on the floor, no emmisions control box or buzzer box. Im trying to keep it as light as I can, my goal is to keep it under 3000 lbs. wet and done. But the catch is I want it to at least look like a regular truck. Its gonna be tough but Ill bet I can do it.

Its ok I still have the pics on disc. At least youll have your screen image to remember it by! Im taking as much of the uneeded brackets, bolts, wiring etc. off to save weight for all the added weight of the sliders, bumpers, cage and winch.

I am cutting the rockers off to save a little weight over just hammering them up. I had no idea the rockers were held on so dang good!! It is one hell of an operation, ive had to use most of the weapons in the shop just to get one and it still tool about an hour! I shoulda just gone to the shop and used the plasma. I think Im gonna do that for the floor mods!

Dude came up with a crazy idea cut out ur floor under ur feet so you can see the tires and then put a thick peace of plexy glass under ur feet so you can see threw but stuff cant come into the cab Mud dirt ETC.
That would be cool to have.
My 0.2 cents.

Boy wasnt that a interesting pic
Heres what yall wanted to see. This whole flat belly thing is just about stupid. I know its gonna be really killer to wheel with but it is just too much crap to deal with at once!! Now that its in I need to build the crossmember, (1/4 steel plate with gussets) Move the engine back 1", cut the horseshoe crossmember out, cut more of the floor, build a new trans tunnel, build new drivelines, reenforce the floor so my fat A$$ doesnt bend it and thats about all I can think of now. All thats keeping this going is the thought of the final product! It had better be bad a$$ when its done!!!
Im not sure exactly how far its going up but it is a lot! Just to get the cases where they are now I have about 5" between the mount on the crossmember and the bottom of the case! Ill take measurments in the A.M.......damnit it is the am. LOL

Oh yea the reason Im moving the engine back is so the drivelines are exact same length. 37' as of right now the front is 36" and the rear is 38". I thought that would be a bling factor for the spare!

The drive lines won't matter once the duel case is in..It going to be different length because of the adapter and extra case..looks good though..I almost went flat belly in runner..But I was able to get it close that to the fror cross member..I don't need it totaly flat so close is good enough for me..If I was in comps all the time would be one thing,,or even in a place there was more rock to wheel...But like I said I am real close to flat..

So do you have to move the motor up also for this? Or are you just pulling it up with the tranny? And did you find the pics of that rubicon jeep?
