weve been having some rager fires up there lately without a permit and nobody ever said anything.
You still need to watch for the Sherrif, and now the Rubicon Trail Patrol

Plus im sure marlin already took care of that.
That would be cool, but don't count on it until we get some official word.

we had a nice bon fire last year, but as far as I heard we were only supposed to have the fire at the bon fire pit, not at individual campsites.

the Rubicon Trail Patrol has been on the trail for years.  A couple of my buddies are actually in that volenteer group.  i have only seen a couple other trail patrol trucks in the 3 years i have been wheelin there so i wouldn't be worried about them.

Full tank should be enough.  Always good to have extra gas though

Last year we filler Ruger's tank up in Tahoe, then drove in from the tahoe side.  he wheeled during the day around the springs, then we drove back out that side, and filled up in Placerville on the way down the hill.  We weren't real close to empty, bout a 1/4 tank I think

Fire restrictions are in place in EDNF right now. There is no fires permitted at all. Except you can use a propane stove to cook. You still need to have the fire permit to operate the stove.

Will they mail one to you? there is no telling when we will get there.

EDIT: I just called. You have to get the permit, a campfire permit, at the office cause you have to sign for it.
It's off of Forni Rd. on Briw Rd.

Directions from 50E.:
Take Forni Rd. exit - make a left.
At the stop sign make a right on Briw Rd.
The office is between the Midas Muffler and Ford car dealership.

I am assuming they are an 8-5:00 business.
Hopefully we can get by there.

a damper   I'm wondering if we are with the MCR5 group if that means we are all covered under any permit they might get.
I do know last year no one was supposed to have a fire outside of the bonfire area. Or maybe that was without a permit, but I never heard anything about propane grills.
Ours is a stove, not a grill.

Most of the time that rule is for undeveloped sites, if the springs has a pit you may still be able to have a fire. Of course that means a community fire, no fires outside in individual campsites.

They just wanna make sure everyone is aware how dangerous and DRY it is in the forest right now and it ain't just a Cali thing. Not that it really helps but it's the feds way of trying to inform you of your responsibilities while in the forest. I would check and make sure that fires are not permitted in the developed campgrounds before giving up on not having one for MC5. If the springs has a developed fire-ring you may still be able to get a permit.

As an example I watched this clown trying to light his white gas lantern, he was pumping it and pumping it. Then try to light it, and nothing would happen. So he just kept pumping that thing like crazy until what ever was clogging the valve popped free...... of course this happened as he was trying to light it....... the thing blew up right in his face, started the picnic table on fire, his tent, and almost started the canopy on fire too. Fortunatly this was in a private campground inside the city of Moab and there was plenty of water to put it out. Just think what would have happened in some remote campsite in the forest. I won't even take a gas lantern anymore it is just as easy to take a battery operated lantern and they last all weekend.

Each camper is required to have their own permit  :headscratch: according to CDF.  I got mine today, they are free just a Signature and an address will do the trick the fire permits are restricted right now  :o due to high fire danger in Cali. but you still can use your stove :clap2:

We will be stopping and getting our permit.
whether before or after we get to the KOA.
Probably one of the biggest thing that will get these trails shut down are people trying to skirt the rules.
