OK  one of my nephews wants to bring his Subaru to the Rubicon  it will have a 4" lift with 31's will he make it  and how far can he go  Will he be able to get around the tough stuff or will he end up walking  Help an uncle out...

Subaru will not be going on this trip, maybe another one some day, but not this one.

It's gonna be a chore just keepin warm... it was pretty cold last year

Ok, so I'm kicking around the idea of packing up and coming to the roundup.  The problem is that I don't have enough vacation days to cover the time off I'll need.  I figure 2 days to drive there (from Albuquerque, New Mexico) , 3 days for the event, and 2 days home.  Thats 7 days, but I'm off for 2 of them anyway.  That leaves 5 days of vacation I'd need to take.  I don't have ANY vacation days until the 1st of October.

SO- Do I bite the bullet and take 5 unpaid days off, requiring the wife and I to eat macaroni and cheese for a month, OR- Do I skip it (again) this year, and plan better for next year?

I've never run the con, and would really like to put some names and faces together.

Help me out here guys....

Seems like a no brainer to me

Eat Mac-n-Cheese till it's time to leave that way you have money left over for the trip and when you get home you wont' be hurtin as much

i agree you should go i didnt have payed vac. last year you should be able to make the trip in one day im coming down from nw oregon in one day

I say do it Reklund...Hell,I almost got fired from my old job last year.Believe me,it was DAMN NEAR,and I didn't even have my rig there.I say screw it,you only live once and if you don't go you're gonna kick yourself in the @$$ for for not going once you see the pictures.

That's very male of you I freeze my off... just hopin the summer lasts a little longer this year




Hey Ryan we'll do this... how bout so you don't have to eat just mac-n-cheese till the next payday, we'll bring you a variety of different non-perishables for you to take home so it won't be so hard the following weeks You GOTTA come!!!

Come on ya all  its mind over matter  if you dont mind it dont matter, I camp at 6000 ft and I wake up at 5am in shorts and tank top and start the coffee , its good for the body, gets the blood flowing

Floridians = insulated coveralls. You all remember us from last year, we won't be any different this year... cept we'll be bringing the in-tent heater this year as well.
Long johns, toques ...prepare for the cold! You don't have to freeze your if you don't want to!
And Reklund...we're both taking a week without pay to make our trip... you can do it. Just tighten your belt.

If ya'll can find a 12 volt elect blanket  they work great, I got the wife one and we plug it into our Jumper box at night and she stays warm  all night.

I was very comfortable last year with my insulated coveralls and a wool hat (toque) the important thing is keeping your head covered 90% of your body heat is lost through your head.
Oh and we have insulated boots too.
