Perfect bro. Thanks ya ill post pictures tomorrow. But went to my buddy's place and welded on the front guard from the 1st truck. I gotta say. Im loving it more than i thought i would. And unfortunately still havnt got those 31's together yet. But the date is set. May 22 i should have em and on the girl. It was funny,  now that im back in town ive had 2 incidences where people "complimented" the ol' girl. Today at O'rielly's a guy offered to buy it off of me. Even though shes un finished. A little insulting but said $3000. I smiled and nodded. And said she's not for sale. And probably never will be. And then had this kid couple(19-23 yrs old maybe)  pull up next to me while driving. Wording through their window "that's Rad!!" A little eiry but they even followed me in my neighborhood. ??? This is the kind of stuff im worried about. When you have a "rare" vehicle. Hopefully nothing comes of it..

Don't hope nothing comes of it. Make sure that nothing comes of it. Take measures. You don't want to know what it's like to walk out to an empty driveway one morning. It's the kind of mistake you only make once. Hopefully you never have to make it. Ignition interruption is the best Way to go. And it is as simple as a well hidden toggle switch. Do it now. Don't wait till it's finished.

RED FLAGS MAN RED FLAGS
do not EVER let somebody follow you home

dude,  that really worries me.  you need to weld a couple tabs to you transmission shifter and tcase shifter so you can put the tcase in low, and the trans in reverse and put a padlock on it.    DO THIS NOW

Also  if you dont have that ignition interupt wired up you I need to come slap your head  :slap:  they WILL be back to steel that rig.

what color vehicle were they in??

Thanks Glen. And dont worry. I also took out my battery. Until i set up that ignition interrupter. And i stopped at other houses. i never actually stopped in front of my house. but i like that pad lock idea. I'll do it. Along with the ignition.

Well I spent the day doing two things. Wiring up my new flood lights. And wiring in The ignition interrupter switch. Just To be safe I still wedged the Chinook between car and house in the driveway.

Also, on a more confusing sad note... can anyone tell me what is going on with my shift arm for the transmission??? I am having trouble finding and forcing it into gears especially first and second. And the arm will actually spin around literally. I am going to be investigating it tonight once I have time, just wondering if anybody can you give me an idea of a head of time. Thanks guys. These are pictures of when it spins and it hits into my dash or radio. ??

Thast bad news on the shifter bud, The pins in the shift housing have been broken off. And if you have a L series trans you have to pull the entire top plate just to change the shifter base.

Once you get the top plate off drill out and tap where the old pins were then install some grade 8 bolts in the appropriate size. That is what marlin did with the new short throw shifter he sells.
I can't believe you drilled into your perfect, unmolested dash.  :tantrum: there are better ways of doing that.

Maybe not the best judge but heres the reflections against my garage door. 1st brights then floods and then the illuminated switch .

And again no dash was harmed in the making of this mod. ;)

And thankyou with the help of the tranny.

I can confirm there is a factory hole there in first gens.  at least my 79 had it.

Dude,  you  have to drop the transmission OR cut the trans tunnel out and use self tappers to put it back and hope it dont leak.

when I first saw the pic I thought you had a L43, that would have been easy but

For some of the coolest custom switches get the ones from OTRATTW. (Over The River And Throught The Woods) they are available with different backlight colors and different cool images on them.

Yes fortunate but unfortunate. I swapped my l43 out for a l52 tranny. I want to lower first and fifth. :dunno: trade offs. Not the worst that could happen. I was just happy to have her running again thanks to Mitchell. And get her back home.

And I have already cut out some of the tunnel for when I first swapped in the l52. So I might be able to just work with that
